In this world of ever growing insanity and darkness, I wanted to share some things that make me happy and give me joy with my TB2K family.

Christmas time for me is a big deal, well for my whole family, we wait for it all year long and I don't know if it's because we're yankees or what, but for me Christmas is the memory of home as a kid (which wasn't too long ago haha); back in that old NY mill-town village perpetually stuck in the 1950's, nestled between the peaks of the Adirondacks, proudly declared as both the "Snowshoe Capital of the World" and "The Gateway to the Adirondacks". As you drive down Main Street, every light fixture done up with garland and lights, decorations suspended across the street from pole to pole, homes done up the the nines. Each house blanketed in snow, puffs of smoke coming from their chimneys as families laugh and smile, folks greeting each other warmly at the local Grand Union (or "Grand Onion" in local speak) as they do their shopping, the roaring water going over Spire Falls can be heard faintly in the distance, and the picture from the old highschool parking lot is an amazing view of the nearby peaks as the Hudson River winds North, underlining them.

My grandparents house, a pre-20th century homestead decorated with the same 1960's style decorations, those big fat bulbs, the retro-style orbs and other shapes, the tinsel and garland, traditional Christmas music by Bing, Gene, Dean, and Elvis playing softly in the background. The house is warm and cheery, the woodstove chugging away, family and friend all sitting and talking up a storm of memories and past Christmas', us kids playing at the bar with the tiny jukebox, pretending to serve drinks. The giant tree in the livingroom, done up like it was taken for a page ad out of a 1960's Sear & Roebuck catalog, listening to stories from Grandpa, Dad, Uncle Jeff and Al of their times in the Army.

Now I get to share those memories and make new ones with my own little family and boy d we have the house done up and the he kids love it, dancing to all the Christmas songs I did as a kid.

I wish and hope the same for every single one of you here on TB. I wish you all the very best, the happiest Thanksgiving and the Merriest Christmas.

God Bless You All!

Gorgeous pictures, both the one of the park, and the one your words created.

Thanks for sharing!

Has No Life - Lives on TB
Thank you, Weps. Your village sounds like a lovely place to live and raise kids. Your story reminds me of a small town in Maine where we lived for a few years. There is something special about that corner of the US. It has its own unique charm. Hold onto that special place for as long as you can, for it's something rare, beautiful and worth keeping for your kids and grandkids.

I add my holiday greetings for a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas to the TB2K family.
