Official Resister
Poll based on the resurrected "20-minute Bugout" thread.

Have you tested your plans? Do you have any idea how long it will take you to "get up and GO"? I'm not looking for actual times in this poll, unless you *want* to speak to them in a comment here.

We have no bugout plans here. We bugged out so many years ago, most of you weren't even born...

Now our problem is trying to convince our kids and grandkids that what we always tried to teach them, to have a foot in both worlds, makes sense. They seem to think they have to choose!

Drives us nuts... and we feel lonely, with kids so busy trying to buy into a system that we had to purchase, (maybe foolishly) to give them a leg up, that they can't break away, even though they know it is one teetering on the edge...

Wow, so far I am the only one who has test it and was pretty happy with it. I keep a whole lot of stuff in rubber maid containers as bug out gear so it can be loaded quickly.

Load up bugout gear and bags,

Load up guns and ammo

Load up cats (Yes I did put them in crates lol to test they were not happy)

Load up extra gas and a few other items..

then I am good to go.

Took me about 25 mins last year.. took me a whole lot longer to put it all away neatly.. lol

We dont plan on bugging out, but its always good to be ready if we HAVE to.

WEll seeing how we sold out home here in CA and bought an RV, I would say that we can bug out in less the an hour, and be on the road to our out of state new home in Utah.

:D

We tested our bug out plans last year when Hurricane Rita made a visit. It took 5 hours to get packed. I have entirely to much junk. I dicided that the ammo will stay at the bug out location. I also left a lot of food stuffs there . I am prepping now and will take another load soon. I will cut my time to less than 1 hour before it is all said and done. The biggest problem here is trying to decide what I really need to keep here . How much ammo , food, clothes, ect ???? Well if the shtf , we will do the best we can and carry on.

I have never tested my bugout plans because my two teen kids are aware of the fact that I have an anxiety disorder (among other things), so when I try to explain the importance of being prepared, I think a lot of times they don't take me as seriously as they should but just 'humor' me. Understandable, I guess, but still troubling for me. :(

I've never tested specifically but living on LI I don't really have specific bug out plans either. My wife and I travel constantly for business and we always seem to be either packing or unpacking. At this time bugging out would simply mean grabbing different things a bit faster, if we're even at home. I have gotten into the habit of mixing in some prep containers with some of our business travel. Just about all of our preps are in containers with handles. The biggest headache would be getting the cats into their carriers. We also recently moved so things have yet to settle down on that front either. Hopefully Memorial day weekend will be our 'catch-up' weekend for a lot of things.

You know in a way I do believe that people that are used to traveling constantly would have an advantage there.

10 minutes to attach the trailer and go.

Maybe a little longer if I want to load additional goodies.

Everyting is self-contained, including FD foods and water treatment.

Yes, we practice.
