CHAT Got chastised by an angry liberal in a FB group...for WIDOWS!

Facebook is fun in many ways, although I am growing weary of it. In that I sell a lotta books through Facebook, it helps to have a presence on social media.

I was in a widows' group, and they were a nice bunch, and the rule was NO POLITICS. Someone posted a picture of Comma-la Harris being a victorious VP candidate and likened her to Rosa Parks as a trail blazer. The following comments were full of adulation and praise.

I posted, "Ladies, I love you all, but I thought this room was a 'politic free' zone. I find Harris' VP win as offensive as you have found President Trump's victories. Perhaps more so."

That was it. I was told that the poster and comments were NOT political, and that my commentary WAS political, and that I needed to recognize that I was the one that brought politics into the discussion and should apologize.

So, I deleted my posts and left the group. The point is, we're not allowed to have an opinion ANYWHERE - even in a "non-political group" for grieving widows!

There is no "safe space." And I am tired of the BS.

Lots of folks here ask, "Are you ready to die for your country?"

The answer - YES. Because we're getting to a point where we're being squeezed into a very tight corner. And it is exhausting.

This too shall pass.
Probably should have stopped your comment with just the first sentence, but I hear you. I've gotten to the point where I think this is all just going to have to play out and go way down the tubes before people start coming out of this strong delusion they've fallen prey to.

I'm sorry, Betty_Rose, but I have to point out a redundancy in your headline. "Angry Liberal" is like saying "angry angry." It's a given that liberals are angry. Of course, you don't have to say "Stupid liberal," or "Clueless liberal" either.

Sorry for the thread drift.

Sigh... somedays it's hard being a FORMER troll... otherwise I'd stop by Betty Rose - Throw them some verbal Daisies.
Gentle hugs, instead.

Rosa Parks didn't bleep a married man for a better seat on the bus!

For heaven's sake!

Start the exact same group on MeWe. Then, go post the link on your Facebook group. See how many follow you over.

Make them hurt. Take their business.

Well, you DID say the word politics first. Your fault.

I’m kidding. What a bunch of harrumphed witches.

And going to the FB deletion thing? I have this giant feeling that it’s never deleted and still tracks just as well with an account or without one. Assuming you ever had it. May the Flying Finger of Fate drop on those arses.

Any possibility that members/mods were AI bots, and not humans, per se - (falsely) causing you the sense that "we're being squeezed into a very tight corner?"

Just a thought. Remember the early cartoon, which showed two dogs, sitting in front of a computer screen - "On the internet, nobody knows that you are dog," says one to the other. AI bots can also fit that description.

Could be a WORLD full of amoral Graduate/PhD candidates, all practicing their IT/psychology/mass manipulation craft in real time (for free), while de facto stirring the cultural pot as they gain the required experience/hours towards their degree requirements . . .

YMMV.

Bots! Yep. The trolls of the internet. I've quit various forums because of them and bored high school idiots. I now belong to several closed boards where I know everyone, plus two crochet boards where the mods are good about keeping the discussion on topic. Life is too short for garbage!
