REL GENRL God saved my life, again last night.

Saved, to glorify God.
I had a bad scare last night driving on WA 302. (I heard it once was and still maybe the deadliest road in WA state) It is usually pretty busy for a very curvy, narrow two lane, no shoulder, blacktop, no lights, with logging trucks)

l was returning home and was between Lake Kathryn village rural minimall, and Danforth st, on a curve, it was pitch dark, AND no traffic, no headlights at all either way, except mine and I was on a curve when suddenly BOTH MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT! I suddenly could see ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT BLACK! (THE tall, heavy trees bordering the highway block the sky and moonlight)

I tried to slow down radically and pull to the right just a little, but it wasn't enough on the curve, so when I finally got stopped, and found and turned on my emergency flashers, I found that my car was in the ONCOMING LANE a little crooked across the path of any oncoming traffic. I THANKED GOD there was strangely no traffic at 7 pm on 302, got back in th e right hand lane and drove the 2 miles home at 20 mph with no headlights and only emergency blinker lights!

There was no shoulder, no place to pull over and just stop driving.

If I had thought of it I think I would have had a drink to calm me after I got home. I need to go try to find out what happened. I think I must have blown the fuse to the headlights. But it seems stupid that BOTH headlights would be on the same fuse. I gotta check it.
I have been thanking God profusely.

You're lucky alright, sound like you kept your cool.

We have highway CA17 down here, very curvy and reverse banked in places. It goes through the mtns connecting coast with Silicon Valley. Dangerous as hell when even slightly wet. I've seen as many as 4 accident during a round trip. Last one a couple in some old 60's car speed pass me on a blind curve, it had been damp. When I get around the curve the car had hit the center divide, spun out, was now facing the wrong way drivers side tilted up the hillside. The couple inside were white as ghost, eyes as big a saucers. Absolutely no place to pull over and help. Couple looked ok, just gobsmacked at what had happened.

Yep you did good, Ain't

Had a similar incident on a similar stretch of 2-lane road - luckily, it was straight, no curves to contend with.

Problem originated with the headlight switch ground wire intermitting - AND, the floor dimmer switch ALSO intermitting - BOTH (much older, collector car).

Never had both my lights go out. Have had 1 suddenly go out. that was bad enough.
The closest I have come to not being able to see the road was a few years back going up
the malahat, 1 of many dangerous roads here. When fog suddenly descended and I could
see maybe a foot in front of the truck. Turned on the hazards and managed to get through
safely.

The OTHER worst car malfunction I ever had was a 6yr old station wagon I got cheap back in the 1990’s. Beautiful car, ran like a champ. Soon, I discovered that ABOUT EVERY HUNDRETH TIME YOU PRESSED THE BRAKES THERE WAS NO BRAKES AT ALL!! The pedal went to the floor without slowing the car at all. USUALLY AFTER A LEFT TURN. ( I paid for three successively more expensive brake jobs, but it kept recurring, so I told the last guy that HE HAD TO DRIVE IT FOR FREE FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH before I would pay for the brake job. He called me about a week later, his voice shaking, saying “your car almost killed me!” He had no idea why, because he said he had checked everything and fixed anything he thought needed fixed. (That was the THIRD “COMPLETE BRAKE JOB“( IN reputable shops) in A LITTLE OVER TWO MONTHS! I had sunk over $1300 into it and decided to just give the car away with a signed, notarized WARNING to the people accepting it FREE that it was unsafe to drive. I told them that I could not find anyone who was able to fix it after $1300+ and three brake jobs. I was giving it away for parts. The fools signed the paper and DROVE OFF in it Anyway.

Yes, many years ago I had a Chevy Luv truck. It was about 10 at night I was 21 years old. I got on the 605 freeway in California headed the 25 miles home. All of the sudden both headlights went out, scared me to death. Got off at the next off ramp that was very rural (at that time) and dark. The Lord took care of me that night. I sat there for a few minutes not knowing what to do. Then I turned the truck off and back on again and the lights came back on. I got home safely. Took it to the mechanic the next day, some kind of wiring problem.

I had a close friend that had an angel move her car out of the way of an accident miraculously. It's fun to watch people try to explain that stuff to someone. I've seen at least 2 stories like that on Sid Roth, but even better because the vehicles passed through each other. Faith comes by hearing...! Glad you're still here with us. Much easier to talk to that way.

Yes. When I shredded a timing belt on an old Dodge. It wasn't gone but shredded enough that it was probably a good thing the cop pulled me over and made me call a tow truck. If he hadn't I might have done a lot of damage.

Pride comes before the fall.....Pride month ended.
It is most startling when the Hand of The Almighty takes direct action in your life. (BTDT) Bless you that you have the discernment to see the truth.
Five or so years ago I had a problem with my headlight on my Roadking (Harley). The light went off one night a half mile from home....no idea why. Worked fine for days. I visited a friend twenty miles out and on the return trip on interstate the light went out, I got off the throttle immediately, The light came back on a second later and just then a coyote passed twenty feet in front of me.
The Good Lord intervened. Had I not slowed down, im sure I would of hit that doggie.

Lost every light all at once. 55 miles an hour, downhill, over a bridge, no shoulder, middle of nowhere, deep clouds, no moon, late at night. Like clapping my hands over my eyes.

Hand-cranked windows back then. Rolled the window down and drove by listening to wheels on pavement. Had no idea how fast I was going, so after a sufficient time passed, I took it off the road and stopped about three-quarters of a mile from where the lights failed. I had traveled over the bridge and parked perfectly parallel one foot from a fence I had not seen.

Reached into the fuse box and got a handful of melted plastic. Hiked back a mile toward town and some nice folks found me. Let me use the hardline phone to call my family.

Family came by. Turned out I was kin to the people who found me. I followed my family home at 55 miles an hour by using their headlights and hoping no one drove into my back bumper. Times were...more adult back then. We just did it and it worked out.

It was a short in one tail light. Took a long time to find it.

It happened to me - 1974/75 - based on when I owned the car. 1963 Impala SS. Wiring problem. Was on a 4 lane just outside city in an area with lots of stores, so it was not pitch dark. Your story just reminded me of the car. Wish I had kept it. Was an original 409 - 425hp - 4 speed car. Happy your event turned out well!

Yes, I have. And figured out what caused it.

For those who can benefit, here's my experience. 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. This year was known for electrical problems, and mine was one of the worst. It would lose both headlights at random, especially when using the dimmer switch. I thought that might be the problem- it wasn't. After much troubleshooting, I found that the pin for the headlight dimmer switch in the connector for the steering column was not inserted all the way, and movement or vibration would cause it to lose connection. I fixed that, amongst many other problems, with the electrics on that truck. (Otherwise it's been a great truck, and I am still driving it, bad paint, broken dash, and 250,000 miles later)

If you lose your headlights at night, always try rapidly hitting the dimmer switch, cycling the headlight switch, and even moving the tilt wheel up and down. It can't hurt, and might help. And yes, most cars I have seen have individual fuses and relays for each headlight.

If you have fog lights, sometimes they can be used as auxiliary lights. Not always as they usually are fed through the headlight switch.

I used to just jump in the car and go for a ride. Not any more. I try very hard to remember each time I head out now, to say a prayer for highway safety before leaving the driveway. With all the craziness out there, I want the Lord's protection every time I hit the road.

Hope this helps.

That happened to us once in 1964 in the middle of nowhere NE. But lucky DH was Mcguyver and got them working with a piece of gum or something. This was a 1939 Chevy.

Thankfully your angel was with you.

Living On A Prayer
Indeed, He did save you from harm. It is good you see that and are thankful.

He has saved me innumerable times...... certainly daily. He continues to work through His servants here on earth, saving my wife and I from fate worse than death.

His Son, ultimately, has saved me, and will save each of us who accept His gift. All of our sons marked Paid In Full by His blood.

The wisest among us, with no requirement of anything but faith in Jesus and sincere repentance for our mortal sins, understand and will be saved.

I say that to say this.....

Stay faithful and rely only upon His providence in these days. Give it all, 100%, to Him and you'll never once regret it.

I'm glad all of you, who have experienced something awful or scary, understand and are thankful correctly and give appropriate thanks to God Almighty.

if i remember right most cars have circuit breaker type fuse so if you have a short circuit in the head light wiring it gets hot and shuts off the current.
then when it cools down it will turn on the head lights for a short time until it gets hot again and shuts them off..
not sure about newer cars but some of the older ones had that type of circuit breaker in them.

I had the whole dam drivers side wiper fly of my s10 when I was 17 driving in a blizzard.
Luckily it had a bench seat to I just scooted over and drove with my left hand and foot home.

Yes. My 16 year old was driving - suddenly no lights. I changed places with her and was able to pull back on the lever that changes from dim to bright and had lights the whole way home.

That was scary BUT I would have triple freaked out had I been in your shoes!! Gad. The good Lord was definitely with you!

So...what was the cause???
I don’t know. I went to the car a day or so later and the headlights worked perfectly!
I suspect that MY REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER (which was on) and the fact just before it happened, that I ate my Burger King lunch while parked in their lot WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING (for 30 min) May have overheated the electrical system and tripped the breakers to the headlights, which came on later when the car was off and the elect system cooled?

I, who WAS BOTH an aircraft (FAA licensed) and auto mechanic) don’t have the money to take it into a shop, Electrical problems are especially difficult and expensive to troubleshoot and unlikely to be repaired, when they “fix themselves” in the interim.
