FARM GMO feed sterilizes hogs, puts pig farmer out of business

13 minute video. He tells his story of how the GMO feed wrecked his business and threatened many others, and how Big Seed is doing everything they can to hide the truth.

As others have said, Big Seed is rapidly getting a stranglehold on our global food supply, and once they have a tight enough grip, they can literally starve and poison us to death because we will have no where else to turn. And as the guy in the video said, if it does this to hogs, what is it doing to us?

Is there somewhere I can get a transcript of this? Can't do videos on dial up...I have some friends that raise pigs and they can't do videos either on their computer...yeah, we're caught in the black hole of high speed in MO...thanks in advance.

Ever heard of a rat poison that kills 5 times? What ever eats the dead rat will die. Then 4 more times till the poison gets too weak to work.

Think how many times GMO food will keep going if it will sterilize an animal?

The bible talks of famine and we maybe seeing the beginnings of it here. With droughts, seeds don't sprout and animals not reproducing makes me think, NO Food!!!

This story is being discredited, seen recent articles.

I have no idea if the worst is true.

Makes me wonder about Hep B vaccines for infants, and sexual disease shots for little girls and now boys.

Why do they care about such things ?

Who's controls the private parts of adolescents and even adults ?

Gross.

Expert Doubts Biotech Corn Caused Birthing Woes for Sows in Harlan, Iowa.
Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News
October 10, 2002

By Bill Hord, Omaha World-Herald, Neb. Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News

Oct. 10--HARLAN, Iowa -- Dr. John Carr, an Iowa State University expert on swine fertility, says there is no evidence that biotech corn caused the sows on Jerry Rosman's farm to abort in 2000 and 2001.

Yep, and if pigs are being sterilized from gmo corn, are birthrates going down for the cornbread and corn tortilla eating populations?

IF something like this was true (and I can't access the video ... my DSL is acting up again)... but I'm presuming he's claiming that GM corn or soy caused his fertility rates to plummet... anyone want to explain exactly WHAT the problem was for us "video challenged" ones?)

It wouldn't be limited to one or two farms! EVERY animal in the country (except those on pure organic farms) is being fed corn and soy from GM plants. And as I've said before, dairying is all about sex. Getting animals to come into heat, to get pregnant, to have a healthy calf and then get their reproductive organs in shape to get pregnant so they calve 12 months later. Over and over... every animal on a dairy farm. That's what we do... it's what we spend 90% of our time paying attention to.

And if you think we wouldn't notice if we suddenly saw a huge drop in fertility, you're crazy! If MANY farmers were seeing increasing fertility problems, their vets would be hearing it (probably without needing a telephone!) We'd be discussing it at every meeting and social event.

AND IT'S NOT HAPPENING.

There are so many things that can cause abortions or lowered fertility (usually showing up as VERY early abortions, which can masquerade as an inability to get pregnant at all).. feed toxins- NOT from GMO, but naturally occurring stuff like molds (mycotoxins), contamination from rodents (leptospirosis and other diseases), viruses, sexually transmitted diseases (this would be very likely on a hog farm which uses boars and natural service)

As I've said before, I don't completely trust GM grains... I don't think they've been tested fully enough to be considered safe. But as a farmer who is an unwitting (and not especially happy about it) part of "the greatest live experiment on earth"... using all our valuable registered cows as "test subjects" to see whether or not this stuff DOES affect fertility or health... I have to say that we're just not seeing anything major at this point. We MAY be seeing one tiny uptick in ONE indicator... we've had one heifer unable to conceive (about 3-5%, given our heifer numbers) every year lately. The vets can't find anything wrong... they are physically fine, they cycle normally, they just don't conceive a calf. It's not inbreeding... I watch our inbreeding coefficient numbers closely. (inbreeding is one of THE most common reasons for decreased fertility in most species... I wonder if this hog farmer looked at that? Did he save a few bucks and reuse boars for an extra year? Dunno)

But in a small herd like ours, it's really impossible to tell if something like a "doubling" (one infertile heifer every year, instead of one every two or three years) of a problem is a real issue, or just a blip on the chart.

But we're watching closely... just like every other dairy farmer.

The problem was primarily with the 2000 year corn crop. This is an issue because every year GMO crops have slightly different characteristics which are uncontrollable via the shotgun process they use to interject the genes and which is why they cannot do testing in advance on a particular crop. And yes, many other farmers contacted this guy saying they have the exact same problem. They switched to another corn from another source (maybe also GMO?) and the problem went away.

However, increasing infertility is an issue for all animals consuming GMO corn and soy. Just look at the increasing numbers of human fertility clinics in the US.

So listen to the interview with Dr. Huber of Purdue saying that entire dairy herds are dying out in many places in the country. And listen to him say (around 14 minutes into the interview) about how Glyphosate/Roundup causes all crops to stop taking up minerals from the soil, so that our food contains no minerals.

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/12/10/dr-don-huber-interview-part-1.aspx
Dr Huber interview with Dr. Mercola

Dr. Huber submitted information to the Dept of Agriculture contesting their approval of GMO Alfalfa, saying hasn't this experiment gone far enough? As was pointed out in the video, the government toxicologist said that the corn stalk is a toxic crop, it's a pesticide - and all GMO crops are toxic to whatever eats them. It introduces pesticides to your digestive tract which introduces new/unknown bacteria and organisms.

There's a new film coming out about how the scientists are threatened by GMO business.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADNE1B2Rl5Y&feature=player_embedded#!

Árpád Pusztai and Ignacio Chapela have two things in common. They are distinguished scientists and their careers are in ruins. Both scientists choose to look at the phenomenon of genetic engineering. Both made important discoveries. Both of them are suffering the fate of those who criticise the powerful vested interests that now dominate big business and scientific research. Statements made by scientists themselves prove that 95% of the research in the area of genetic engineering is paid by the industry. Only 5% of the research is independent. The big danger for freedom of science and our democracy is evident. Can the public – we all – still trust our scientists? www.scientistsunderattack.com

I know what you're thinking and you wouldn't wish that on any being.

Why am I telling you this? I am NOT your mother.

Kidding. Sort of. Well, yours was a witty statement. Provided for entertainment value primarily I'M SURE.

So was mine. We're even.
