Really? $109.99 for a can of 10-11 Sirloin Steaks. I think a military boot would be more tender. How can anyone justify selling or paying $10 for a tough sirloin steak? My steaks cosr me .20 cents for about 90 to 110 lbs.

How does anyone afford this high priced crap?

Price is not unreasonable

compared to other similar items.

I am harsh on Safecastle because they often advertize pricing that is higher than other outlets. But in this case, their pricing is well within other places, and lower than many. Freeze dried steaks are hard to find.

Yer not just paying for the meat, but also the processing. And the rarity.

Have you priced steak retail lately? Your going to pay $10 to $12 each for a decent one. And that is without the freeze drying, processing and packaging. This isn't for day to day table fare. This is for when food is hard to come by and meat is even harder to come by for most people during/after the economic collapse that most of us are expecting. Some folks are fortunate enough to have their own beef cows or full freezers or live close enough to people that do. Most of us don't have that luxury. In addition what about off grid or during an extended power failure? Might have a full freezer now but you would lose all that frozen meat. This certainly is a niche type provision but for those that have the basics already a few cans of these would go a long way to provide a real treat that you need now and then to avoid survival food fatigue. Not to mention badly needed protein.

.20 for 90 to 110 lbs of steak. I'll give you $1 for your steaks. That's 500% profit for you. How can you turn that down. I'll even drive over to pick it up. I'm in the FL panhandle so it shouldn't be a bad drive.

Here is the rational for this price.

- Meat prices have been on rise and cost of raw meat is moving upwards. See the chart below (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics).
- The process of freeze drying, processing and packaging when done right takes time and money to ensure these last 25 years.
- These are not the usual fare. This is military surplus, extremely rare and hard to come by. We got the steak from our supplier just last night and we got only 35 cans. We normally get cases but this time we only cans , 35 total.

We have always passed on maximum value to members on this forum. Hope this helps.

In these here parts, hamburger is running $4/lb. Steak is up near $10/lb.

I'll get a new copy of my meat distributor's price list and post the costs at that level once I get a chance. Stuff has been going through the roof for years. The whole ethanol requirement has not helped things any if at all.

Lesson to this posting: don't hide the link behind a picture. I found it, but some obviously missed it.
