Howdy, all.

If you are not yet aware of Freecycle, take a minute to read this page:
http://www.freecycle.org/

"The worldwide (!) Freecycle Network is made up of many individual groups
across the globe. It's a grassroots movement of people who are giving (&
getting) stuff for free in their own towns...."

There are a number of Yahoo mailing lists for local areas in which people
post messages about things they have to give away--something that otherwise
might go to the dump--or about items they are looking for.

Through Freecycle, I have gotten rid of some bushes that I didn't want in
my yard but were too good to cut down. Some people who wanted landscaping
bushes came and dug them up. No work for me, no guilt about destroying
healthy large plants. The Dallas/Fort Worth Freecycle has a challenge on
for offering free items, so I am going to be scouring the house for
get-rid-of items today.

I have obtained through Freecycle a set of needlework books, a French door
(slightly damaged, but fixable), a couple of closet doors, and a cow skull
with horns. Texans like to have one of those displayed somewhere in their
house or yard, so I gave this to my dad.

Check out the site. There may be a Freecycle in your area. Or you might
want to start one. The only cost is time and work.

I just checked out the site. There are a lot of them in Georgia and Alabama!

I have it bookmarked. It looks like it will provide a lot of fun, late-night browsing.

And I dearly would love to get rid of some "stuff" so I could make room for more.
