They have an acreage minimum to qualify for the free offer. Mine didn't qualify, so they generously offered me a one year subscription for only $7.95. Nope, I ain't gonna lie to them just to get a free magazine.

TXKajun I'm sorry that you didn't qualify, but in case others DO have some land & want to see if they qualify they should try. My tiny 2 acre place qualified!

I've been getting their magazine free for many years. Some interesting stuff, but it's mostly pretty yuppified. OK for free.

Been getting it for a few years now. We noticed its geared to the small hobby farmer. They have a great newsletter too. One of the guys who write articles for the magazine is our county commissioner. He also writes articles for other publications and has written books.

Thanks, my measly 5 acres qualified. As far as usefulness, any info that can help me become self sufficient is welcome. Even a blind squirrel can find an acorn every once in a while. So maybe the 'yuppified' magazine can drag me over the finish line sometimes.
