That doesn't make sense. A lot of offices in the larger French cities operate until 7 or 8. Those employees don't eat dinner until 9:30 - 10:00ish. Paris is not an 8 - 5 city like some in the US. Is the gov't telling businesses that they have to close at 5 pm? That won't go over very well.

There are some real idiots in government. They think everyone works the same hours as they do and have long lunch breaks that allow them to do errands in the middle of the day. That's just not the case.

And most french eat out, not at home, and you would be correct about the late hours when they eat dinner. This makes NO sense at all!@

Well, we have a test case. Should the French ignore and nothing much happens, good evidence there.

But if the French ignore and the Chinese Plague goes 24 Karat gold plated double shot self loading apesh*t, there will be good evidence too.

If they shut all the restaurants and cafes down, people will have to go home. Packy's right. Lots of folks in the cities eat out. They have coffee and a pastry for breakfast. Soup for lunch, and a full dinner, often at the neighborhood cafe.
