Very interesting seeing other operations. My daughter has a wool mill, and I work there running the carder and pin drafting. It’s so fun working with many different breeds and types of fiber. We had a 40lb run of Quiviet recently, also Yak. We mostly run wool. Today I worked with fine natural colored Merino blended 20% with a cobalt blue silk. Will be a 3 ply sport for the customer. Just beautiful.

This mill is really expanding. They bought a whole new used spinning machine so they can do babyweight for the sock machine they obtained. Plus a few huge carders. Also several new knitting machines. They had 3 two years ago and now they are up to 8. They are going to have to expand their building soon at the rate they are going. So good to see a business like this being able to get bigger!

What breed of sheep do you have?

I spent way more time than I should have reading your blog and then going to the Mill's website! LOL

I "almost" pulled the trigger on their "yarn of the month club" type thing. But I talked myself out of it. My stash is already way bigger than I had planned. :lkick:

And it never even dawned on me that Merino was an actual type of sheep. I knew it was a type of wool... I just never made that connection. :eye:
edited to add - I have a discount store near me called Ollie's. A couple of times a year they will have "discontinued" etc types of yarn from all the big brands like Red Heart, etc. for at least 50% off. So like this week they had Lion Brand Wool Ease, chunky, skeins for $2. Always in limited colors, but I tend to load up for me and my mom.

This mill is in Buffalo WY. Two hours from my house. They are making me combed top, not yarn this run.
If you want to clean out my ram pen, i'll spin for ya!
