Medical doctors also told us to mask up and get jabbed. Medical doctors are not the Oracle of Truth. Many medical doctors appear to have an agenda. Gay sex was certainly what spun up this flywheel, and I have no reason to doubt that semen will spread the infection. But to say that's all there is to worry about is childishly simplistic.
It's early days, we don't know what we're dealing with, and this doesn't seem scary enough for a MP virus that was reportedly tinkered with in Wuhan. I suspect worse is coming and lulling people into complacency is not a smart move.
Based on NO MEDICAL EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER.
In fact, they told us these things FLYING IN THE FACE of the early medical EVIDENCE that WAS coming out.
They simply pulled guidelines out of their A** and said, "THIS is the SCIENCE!!!"--with NO truly scientifically-obtained EVIDENCE or studies WHATSOEVER to back it up.
And STILL no longitudinal studies.
What I have quoted IS actual medical research.
I am not trying to bash gay people, bw, and if you are gay I'm sorry if you're getting the impression that I am.
Nor do I think that "only" gays will contract it--but if people DON'T KNOW that it's spread mostly by gay male sex, and then think it's ok to, for instance, have sex with someone who may be BI-sexual--they are put at risk.
And don't we at least want to WARN the population that IS most at risk--instead of keeping it a secret???
BUT--if MEDICAL evidence (true evidence, not just someone's "opinion" ) is showing that gay male sex IS the transmission agent for this-- then I quote for you the last paragraph of that article:
"
Harvard’s Lao-Tzu Allan-Blitz acknowledged the pervasive concern that telling the public that monkeypox transmits sexually among gay men will fuel homophobia. He said there is, however, also a cost to keeping quiet about how the virus apparently transmits: This keeps people at risk from best understanding how to protect themselves.
“In our silence, we can also do harm,” he said."
