Golly, it's like a protection order is just a piece of paper, huh?

And the cop is a criminal-enabler. I remember attending a women's-safety-on-campus event a number of years back---the cops basically told the women to cooperate with their attackers, not to resist, etc. They got a little red-faced when reminded publicly that if the woman doesn't resist, there goes the charge of assault, rape, etc., because if she wasn't fighting tooth-and-nail she was presumed to "want it". I prefer to follow my instincts rather than the advice of some guy who's at a lot lower risk of attack than I am.
