I love to eat Frito Lay bean dip and Fritos as a quick snack but the bean dip is expensive. I could make my own but I like the convenience of the canned dip.
I just discovered that if I add seasoning to canned refried beans, It’s good enough to eat cold like bean dip. I used Fiesta brand Pinto Bean Seasoning. I’m in Texas so it’s easy to find this Mexican brand in H‑E‑B.
Also, I noticed the bags of chalupa shells stay fresh much longer than tortilla chips or Fritos. It took me several months to finish a bag and it was months out of date. Tasted completely fine. I break them up to use as tortilla chips now.
