I assume Dennis won't mind my posting this as he wants everyone here to have as much access to good resources as possible.

A friend just sent me several great homesteading/homemaking board links and I am thrilled!!!! Several here said the other day they'd like more prep threads so here are some sites focusing on just that. We can enjoy these along with TB2K!

This one has forums for off-grid power, homesteading, baking cookery, gardening and more! http://www.countrylife.net

Here's another good one with a chat room and also a breadmaking forum! http://www.angelfire.com/tn/gaelio/frame.html

And for prepping Christians who enjoy sharing here's a nice one: http://lcabin.proboards14.com/

Here's another one which is pretty extensive: http://p217.ezboard.com/bourcountryhaven98223

What a great list! Thanks! In checking them out, I rediscovered Our Country Haven where I'm actually a member. I'd lost the link months ago (after having only been there a short time) when my computer crashed.

Here's one I stumbled across the other day and found pretty interesting. Lots of how-to's and recipes:

Welcome to Old Fashioned Living! You'll find down to earth crafts, recipes, gardening features and family activities plus tips on keeping your family history and teaching your kids and grandkids about the generations that came before them. We hope you'll brew a cup of tea and stay awhile!

Thanks for the links. I'm always looking for things that verify and justify my chosen lifestyle as most 21st century people just look at me funny when I say I'm a housewife/ homesteader/ I'm just very old fashioned.

Dearest nchomemaker: You hold your head up high, as you have chosen the most noble of life's pursuits-the development of meaningful and responsible human beings and a place where they can come when the world comes crashing down! (Mom's house!!!!!!)

And then of course, you are residing in one of the best places on the planet!!

The links are wonderful. I especially loved these at Lehmans :

We were talking about solar dehydrators on another thread the other day. They have hanging ones for sale!

And these canning jars are awesome! (Awesome price, too, unfortunately!)

Glad these sites encourage all of you! :)

I shouldn't forget Carla Emery either: http://www.carlaemery.com/homaker.htm

To a Homemaker

Sweetness and soul,
We find joy in your gentle ways.
You nurture all of us: the dog, the bird,
The plants, and people - lucky ones you love;
You're caring, ever caring, here - and far
Where letters send your light to sunny up
A burdened life. With fierce protective eye
You scan afar for threat to those God gave
You vigil o'er. From morn to night you work:
You cook, you wash, you sew, you clean, you shop.

What for? Why just to make a home
For us who come - and go.
You suffer little leavings every day
And bravely bear the pain and think of ways
To make homecomings glad and good, and build
Us strong again.

You cook. Oh, how you cook!
Not as some other women cook, with weariness,
Complaint: "So many years, so many dinnertimes."
No, you cook like God would cook, I think.
Each meal's a miracle. Dried beans and rice
Become gourmet for you. But more than that,
Each meal's a feast of love
Turned into bread and drink. We humbly take.
There is no way to honor you enough.
