We use to have a chip factory in Eureka Calif.
Bien Padre.
Every year I would take my class there for a field trip.
The company was owned by a local family and they manufactured corn chips for about ten different Mexican style chips for restaurants , small Hispanic grocers, and organic chips.
They were bought out by a huge conglomerate which closed the factory and laid off 25 people.

Our kids went on a field trip to that chip factory when we lived in Eureka!! DAMN!! They made GREAT CHIPS!! I so hate it when I hear of local businesses getting taken over by friggen big corporations and then shut down! GRRRRRRR!!!

For some fun, try setting various brands of chips on fire and compare the results. Original style Fritos burn very well, albeit with a lot of black smoke. Something to remember if you need to start a campfire quickly, don't have time to look for dry tinder, and happen to have some chips on hand.

Goodness before greatness.
The Russians did it.

High probability due to the idealogical rift over the proper use of a potato. Let hope the French don’t attempt to step in and negotiate.

Keep their dam Brie off our French fries…

Wait a minute… Comfort food and negotiators! I’m pretty sure we’re onto something here.

Update to the story. The factory was so damaged they're going to raze it to the ground and rebuild it from scratch. It's going to take more than a year to do that and in the meantime they're laying everyone off (at least they'll get severence). The radio here reported that 1-in-30 jobs in that area was directly connected to the factory but didn't say how many jobs indirectly supported the factory.

Shearer's Chips down Akron way had the same issue 2-3 days ago. The burn was SPECTACULAR, what with all the oils and the starches in the chips...
