WEATHER Experts say to prepare for a "Brutal" Hurricane Season.

As if the massive wave of bad weather here in CONUS, floods and tornadoes, isn't bad enough, the "experts," are saying we should prepare for a bad Hurricane Season. Granted, "they" expect a "normal one," whatever that means. Still, I find it fascinating that the mutant elite is telling the sheeple to prepare for all hell to break loose. Hmm? :shkr:

Forecasters: Prepare For A Brutal Atlantic Hurricane Season, Even Though The Forecast Is “Near Normal”

May 28th, 2019

With hurricane season right around the corner, forecasters are urging the public to prepare themselves for it. Even though NOAA is predicting a “near normal” hurricane season, it is still a wise idea to brace for a bad one.

If a person prepares for the worst, they’ll be set when a “normal” hurricane season strikes. However, if there isn’t any prepping and that same normal season persists, people could find themselves in a catastrophic situation.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) says that a “near normal” hurricane season will occur this year, according to WHNT. A normal season coincides with NOAA predicting 9 to 15 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which to 4 to 8 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 2 to 4 major hurricanes (Category 3, 4 or 5; winds of 111 mph or higher).

Wasn't it that the last time the "experts" said something like this, no named storms made landfall?

ALWAYS, always check hurricane preps on June 1st, (my son's birthday) gas, propane, batteries, candles, clorine and bleach ect. (have window coverings) When the storm is coming last minute cold cuts, bread, ice, junk food and pick up yard. The rest of the preps are my normal preps. Prayers always for ANY storm hitting the US.

Forecasters: Prepare For A Brutal Atlantic Hurricane Season, Even Though The Forecast Is “Near Normal”

This is why people get upset when they interrupt the bachelor on tv with weather updates. The news has to sensationalize everything. Using words like brutal hurricane season while also saying it will be normal for something which is months in advance for which they are just guessing. Better that they say that folks should prepare for the upcoming season.

As anyone who lives near or along the coast knows, it only takes one storm to make your own season brutal, no matter what the broader trend is.

It's time to keep one eye on the tropics from June 1 through at least mid-September...

We are in the Houston area and been through several storms, it always amazes us at how many people are really panicked when a storm is heading our way. We are always pretty much ready. I am the family weather nerd and generally am able to let the family and friends have a heads up about a potential storm a bit ahead of the general media starting the hype.

Not everyone agrees.
From the blog of our local weather guru weather2020.com/blog

"Hurricane season begins officially tomorrow. Weather2020 is predicting a below average hurricane season on the USA mainland, and there may still be one big one around September 11 -18 time frame near the northeast Gulf of Mexico again. Most of the tropical activity will be forming in a hot spot east of Florida with some threats, but then the tracks will most likely curve offshore east of the southeast United States coast."

I think I'll bookmark this thread and see how it turns out.

We're well inland from the Gulf and the Atlantic both. A Cat 5 could get here but mostly what makes it here is rain.

Do not miss whirlygirls one little bit.
