Read a book Called Potters Run by Charles Sage. It is Excellent!!!!! Mimics closely what is going on today and what could happen soon. It is written by an ARFCOMER

looks like good prep/practice/reading material. Thanks for the tip.

Jeff Potter's battered body carries the scars (and more) of battles no one ever knew, in a war most people forgot. Now, as the big one has kicked off, he's tired of fighting for the fortune of others and he's not going to let his son and daughter get drafted.

As total global war envelopes the world, the Potter family is going to sit this one out. Of course, the powers that be can't allow that. They can't let an individual get away with saying... no.

Jeff Potter has learned from their wars and now he has a plan.

As the Feds close in, the County Sheriff and the community stand up.

How far would you be willing to go to protect your children from being conscripted into a war in which you didn't believe? Would you be willing to go to jail? Would you be willing to die? Would you be willing to kill?

Inspired by actual events just over one hundred years ago, the setting is now the near future, where young men and young women are both subject to conscription in yet another avoidable, foreign war.

This is Jeff Potter's mission. This is Potter's struggle. This is POTTERS' RUN...

It really got my mind going when I read it. The first half of the book details what events and actions could be happening very very soon. If WW3 kicks off I can see the FEDs and TPTB moving like in the book. The war isn't about right/wrong or justified, it is about the elites and government control. Noway in hell I would be drafted. I'm against the draft in general.

Does this book also give rise to the idea that people should resist being conscripted into a 2nd civil war, by some lunatics on the far right, who are just itching to get it on?

Asking for a friend.

I won't spoil the book for you. It doesn't say anything about if people should resist the draft or not. It is mainly about a father that has put in his military time and doesn't want his kids to be forced to do it for unjust wars.

The book does paint a story of what could be happening to this country the world pretty soon. I agree with you, some people both left and right are just pushing hard for a war. Some of the same people that were against the wars after 9/11 are now trying hard to put us in a war with Russia. Do you think that they and their families are going to be fighting a new war? They want you and me to fight it. They will probably bring the draft back and not think anything of it

Dunno. Our book club meeting on the particulars will have to wait till we worker bees have had a chance to read it, no? : )

No, not currently a member.

I sent him a message about this thread, he's been unable to register to join. I'll shoot Dennis a query and see if there's another way to get him in. He'd be an asset to this forum.

Not only will they and their families not fight a new war, if it happens, they will deny that they were behind the planning of that war. They'll say it was all planned by those outside of government.

And, I'm not talking draft. I'm talking nut jobs on left or right, outside of government, Azov, Wagner, Antifa types, who's conscription techniques are an idle threat to one's life, liberty, and the... the... you know, the thing.

Well. Rather hope that he's almost finished with the next episode of the story...and there has to be a next episode.
Characters were well conceived, and the skill in bringing them to life for the reader was above and beyond what is normally found in that genre o' short/self published material.

Glad I read it. Realistically grim. I may have even got something in my eye once or twice. Don't judge : )

Charles Sage is now registered as writerrecluse and will be joining us when he sees his email. :)

Oh, and I just ordered my copy. Thanks for letting us know about this book!
I'm glad he is registered! I really liked the book, I couldn't put it down. Made me think about what is going on in the world today. IMO, our country is just one step away of becoming the world described in the book. The author did a fantastic job.

Hi Folks,

I’m the author of Potters’ Run. First off, just wanted to say thanks for all the support and kind words for the book in this thread.

Secondly, please bare with me as I live rurally and have limited internet. That seems to be giving me problems.

Third, special thanks Czechsix who gave me the heads up on this thread and has volunteered to be part of my editorial team and suffer through some initial drafts.

Finally, thanks to Dennis and Deena for having me on what looks like a great forum.

Now, as I’m figuring out how to navigate this, I’ll be happy to answer any questions any one has about the book.

Finally, things seem to be working, literally, I guess the stars have aligned as required for my internet.

I am working on the sequel to Potters' Run. It will be titled Potter's Stand and I hope to have it done early summer. I was hoping to have it done sooner, but a job has come up that I have to take.

Glad you got everything worked out and can now post. Thanks for coming on the forum. It is really neat to be able to chat with you about the book. As I was reading the book I had to keep telling myself that it is fiction. The world you created in your book could be our reality very soon. I can't wait for the next book to come out

Thanks so much, I really hope the book can be more a word of warning than something prophetic. The sequel gets pretty dark.
