ESPN college football reporter Allison Williams has decided to step down from her role during the upcoming season due to her network’s coronavirus vaccine requirements.
Williams announced her decision on Twitter Thursday, saying that she decided to forego the vaccine to focus on her plans to have a second child.
“This was a deeply difficult decision to make, and it’s not something I take lightly,” Williams wrote. “I understand vaccines have been essential in the effort to end this pandemic; however, taking the vaccine at this time is not in my best interest.”

“I must put my family and personal health first,” Williams continued.
“I will miss being on the sidelines and am thankful for the support of my ESPN family. I look forward to when I can return to the games and job that I love,” she concluded.

According to the Hill:
ESPN notified its 5,500 employees who travel to events in May that they had to be vaccinated by Aug. 1. At the time, ESPN said a number of hosts for sporting events were requiring the company’s workers to be vaccinated.
Walt Disney, ESPN’s parent company, subsequently said in late July that all employees had to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. The deadline for that policy is Sept. 30.
“We aren’t going to comment on an individual,” ESPN said in a statement. “We are going through a thorough review of accommodation requests on a case by case basis and are granting accommodations where warranted. Our focus is on a safe work environment for everyone.”
Williams started working at ESPN in 2011. This will be the first time in 15 years that she will not be on the sidelines during the college football season.

Smart young lady!!

But, unlike many who are lower income, she and her family can probably afford to lose her high income. I really feel and fear for the many out there who feel they HAVE to take the jab in order to feed their kids, keep the lights on, and pay the mortgage or rent.

Good for her. Quitting my job in Oct, I'm not taking the jab currently. Need to quit or they hold my last check and retirement account in suspension indefinitely. A$$'s.
I don’t think a final paycheck hold is legal
But companies all do it different

Only when there is a massive die-off of the vaxed, that cannot be
covered up, will this bullshitz come to an end.

I have believed from the very start of COVID-19, that it is about
population reduction, primarily in the Western nations, especially the ZUSA.

Look at what is happening in the Western nations. Its absolute hell
down in Australia, a hell that is soon coming to the ZUSA.

I fully expect, peoples to be dragged out of their cars and houses,
and forceably injected, with the poison that is the COVID-19 jabs.

Remember, the ZUSA is now like the old Soviet Union Russia,
and the new Russia, is like the old ZUSA.

With that being the case, it is only going to get worse, much worse,
and there is nothing that can be done about it, outside of that
4th box that everyone knows about, but no one knows when that
box will be brought out, for all to see.

Please be safe everyone. Enjoy your day, as best you can.

Regards to all.

And there are millions in that situation.

I hate to say this, but I get the distinct feeling that following the law has been cancelled. How else can we explain all those people still being held without charges in D.C. ? They've been in solitary since January 6th. That's against the law as well. The law means nothing. Only power, force and the willingness to use/abuse it.

i do not disagree. not at all.

just wonder their official legal explanation......unless they are just following the lead of the ptb and just doing and pulling back and apologising later IF challenged

Where on earth do you work that withholding your pay is legal?

This is the thing; they're telling us that, at a minimum, they'll initially suspend us for two weeks w/o pay. So the clock is still ticking on my 'employment' there. During that time it's one last chance for us to take the jab, if not then they 'could' terminate us. Now, as has been touched upon, is this legal? Sure, they can suspend for as long as they like. They're a pretty major player in our area so I don't see them playing too many games, but none the less, they could keep us on suspension for quite some time.

While they may shoot me my last working check, what long term suspension does is lock up my retirement account. I haven't been there long, only a couple of years, and what bigger money I had in the account has already been removed by various means. So now I have enough to help us get through my career transition and that's in the retirement account, hence I lean on quitting. But we (at the house) still have a month to make decisions.

As 'free' (cough, gag, hack) as our state is (we'll just say somewhere south of Chicago :D ), the company itself is a real piece of work. Actually glad to be getting out and I really don't see any law suits in the future over this crap. I'm heading off to a new career I've wanted to try for years, going to start out with a family member training me and then off on my own or for another company. Money is better and I'm, more or less, my own boss. Only downside is time away from home but we'll get to the point that will be addressed. Upwards of $2K a week once I have a year or so's experience with big sign on bonuses everywhere.

I quit Oct 15 (funny how that date and on/about is nearly every company's drop dead date for the jab....wonder why, I digress). Looking forward to it. Doing 95% remoting until that day.

Sorry for the on and on and on. Just some back story to things though since I'm new to the board.

I wasn't bitchin' at you, Hunybee. I just went off on a rant. Seems I have a very short fuse lately. Mrs. G says I should come with a warning label.

OK not sure as I'm not a lawyer but is that legal?
Or is it one of those "we can abuse you so, we will' deals?

What state are you in? I'd check he State Sec of Labour regs on such behaviours. Even if legal, it sounds like the public needs to be aware.
