British socialite and heiress who became a confidante of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and was later accused of involvement in his alleged sexual crimes, has been arrested by the FBI, two senior law enforcement sources tell News 4 New York.
She was arrested in Bedford, New Hampshire around 8:30 a.m. on charges she conspired with Epstein to sexually abuse minors, and is expected to appear in a federal court later today, the sources say.
Spokespeople for the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan declined to comment.
The daughter of media baron Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine was a one-time girlfriend of Epstein's and was at the high-flying investor's side for decades.
But she was also alleged to have helped Epstein groom teen girls for sex with the rich and powerful. One of those teens, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, leveled that charge against Maxwell in a 2015 defamation suit, as have a number of other women.
Maxwell has stayed below the radar since Epstein's death, as speculation swirled about whether she could face repercussions for her friend's alleged abuses.

From the sounds of it I think she had tried to convince people and the law she was somewhere in england.

Christ, it took them long enough to charge this broad. I don't care if she was originally victimized or not, she groomed young girls to be playtoys for these monsters and she's a guilty as epstein in my opinion. I figure a little chat will be held with the young lady, something along the lines of "start singing like a canary, or you'll find yourself locked up in a federal pen somewhere for a VERY long time".
As for the staff of whatever federal lockup they put her up in, I do hope that THEY receive a little visit and chat as well, to remind them that ANY "camera malfunctions" "sleeping guards" "lost records" etc WILL result in said staff becoming immates in said federal correction institution just as fast as the paperwork can be made out.
