Chicago, IL – A Chicago woman in an SUV ran over three police officers while she was trying to interrupt a traffic stop on Wednesday.
The incident occurred after Chicago police officers made a traffic stop at about 11 a.m. on Oct. 7 in the 10500-block of South State Street, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Chicago Police Department Spokeswoman Kellie Bartoli said in an email that 30-year-old Dawn Moore pulled up in her own SUV a moment later and tried to intervene.
Bartoli said Moore told the officers she knew the man they had stopped and demanded they release him, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Officers told Moore to leave because her 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was blocking traffic.
But instead of leaving, Moore attacked the officers and their vehicles with her SUV, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Bartoli said Moore drove her SUV into a squad car and sideswiped it, and then she allegedly tried to run over a police officer.
Police said Moore then made U-turn and hit another police car with her Jeep as an officer was getting out of it, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Then she fled the scene.
Bartoli said three police officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the attack, and three police vehicles were damaged, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
She said all three officers were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Police located Moore later in the day in the 5700-block of South Elizabeth Street in her South Shore neighborhood, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
She was arrested and taken into custody.
Moore has been charged with three felony counts each of aggravated assault of an officer, aggravated battery to an officer, and criminal damage to property, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
She was expected to make her first court appearance on Thursday.
