Gotta love the "deer in the headlights" look by the governor. Bet he can't wait to get his ass outta town! so far, just blah blah blah..we're ready, we're the best..Dallas fupped up!! but we won't. we're learning from the Dallas experience. I am not one given to doomer panic and paranoia, plus am a scientifically grounded healthcare provider. BUT... I am conflicted by the statements that Ebola is very hard to catch, so dont worry... yet the infected HCW's caught their Ebola while wearing PPE and following isolation procedures. Does not jive.

Ebola spreads fear ... not an airborne illness ... contracted when person is extremely ill ... through bodily fluids ... Ebola Czar immediate in sending CDC ... Homeland coordinated ... review everything .. done with their advice ...doing everything that we need to be doing ... "Fortunate circumstances" would have been a doctor quarantining himself for at LEAST the 21 days recommended by the CDC; NOT gallivanting around a hugely populated city after coming back from working in an Ebola stricken country.

Patient is hospitalized in Bellvue ... 33 year old doctor with Doctors Without Borders in Guinea ... left Guinea on 10/14 ... arrived U.S. on 10/17... he was well with no symptoms when he arrived in the U.S. ... checked his temp twice a day since Guinea ... 10/21 he felt tired ... first symptoms were TODAY between 10-11 AM ... fever ... he contacted ... then process to bring to Bellvue ...

Noted sx between 10-11 am today and promptly notified Drs w/o borders who promptly notified health dept.
Took subway....A train, L train, number one train, took a 3 mile run, went to a bowling alley last night.
Close contact with GF and 2 others, all 3 quarantined and all currently healthy.

So, this well informed Dr comes back to the US, spends ten days doing whatever, finally has a fever (who knows when it started) finally the fever goes to the "trigger" level of 103F, self reports.
I have no words as to the idiocy displayed by this person. More so because he had the training to know better. I hope he did not infect anyone else. I suspect he infected others, more than his GF.
Drs in this country, as a class, will kill you outright simply because they know that they are right and will continue to misdiagnose and mistreat you according to whatever their prejudices of the moment happen to be. 40% of them do not wash their hands between Pts. That in and of itself should scare the living feces out of anyone seeking care.
This idiot strikes me as a good example of a Dr who knew, without doubt, that he was right, and was not infected with Ebola...until he finally recognized that he was wrong.

I'm sorry but this Dr. spent months treating infected people with the Ebola virus and was told to self quarantine for 21 days yet he took public cabs, the subway, went bowling and had contact with his fiancée' with the full knowledge that he could be harming these people within the incubation period. Yes, he did this intentionally IMHO and should be charged as a terrorist. How much was he paid was my first thought. Sorry, tin foil on too tight.
