Maybe that is why an old hen flew over a six foot fence this morning and the dogs were looking at each other just barking. We are about an hour away but didn't feel it. Would love to have seen the hippies and yuppies. I'm sure the state legislature will outlaw earthquakes now. Can't upset the yuppies you know! :p:D

It's my understanding this is due to volcanic activity, not a fault.

The nearest volcano to Eugene/Springfield is quite a distance away and the epicenter was very close to Eugene/Springfield. Unless you're suggesting a new volcano is about to erupt?

Very, very interesting, esp. in light of your thread in Unexplained, Packy.

I didn't feel the quake, and live about sixty miles east of Eugene. The three sisters are probably the closest dormant volcanos to the quake. I think it is the middle sister that had a bulge growing a few years ago, but haven't heard anything about it recently. Besides the Sisters, there is Mt Jefferson, Three Finger Jack, Broken Top, and a bunch of smaller volcanos that haven't reached mountain size like Belknap Crater. The Sisters are about forty miles east of me, and I try Very hard to keep track of my neighborhood mountains. If you ever get to Oregon, go over the McKenzie Pass. It will give you a great appreciation for what volcanoes can do.

Be Well

may all be well
I live in SW Oregon about 185 miles from Eugene not as the crow flies. No tremors that I felt lately, but noticed that the door to the cat barn which is usually completely loose and not touching the frame, is getting harder and harder to open and close, squeaking. In summer when it's dry, it is never like that, and even in rainy time, it's never this hard to open and shut. I'm thinking there may be some slow earth movement going on.
