Been dealing with this sh-t for awhile/ Go to bed, wake up and hard to hear, it usually clears after a bit but it is taking longer and longer. Now I can beraly hear at all.

Took sudaphed and nothing.

Need some ideas on resolving this.

Do not use Q-Tips, they leave fibers behind and just make it worse. I use a paper clip very carefully scouring the inside of the canal. Bend it open for control and squeeze the working end to make the end round. Stay away from the tympanic membrane you'll know if you touch it. Use a alcohol swab to clean the residue off with each pass.

It's the inner ear, outter is clean and I can hear the popping inside my noggin.
Same thing happens to me, the doc said it's probably fluid in the inner ear canal and to take Sudafed for 2 weeks. I know you said you tried it, but didn't know for how long. The Sudafed helped, but does keep coming back off and on. I read that a chiropractor can manipulate the head by turning it in specific ways to get the fluid out of the inner canal. If the Sudafed doesn't help at all, it may be something else and you probably need to see a hearing specialist. Hope you get it sorted out - it's not fun.

I used to have that problem. For me it was a wax build up in my inner ear. I tried different things that didn’t work too good or took forever but finally landed on something called Q-Grips Ear Wax remover. I got it on Amazon. Now I use it about once a month and it’s kept my ears clear.

Mine had been popping and feeling clogged. I used an over the counter Debrox ear wax removal kit (Drops) and it seems to have worked. It's gentle on your ears and you can't accidentally poke your eardrum.

Sat go see an ENT doc and stop screwing around with it. if you're on medicare - which I think you are - your cost is $25. could be several things but sounds like a wax plug. a cerumen spoon and suction and BOOM its out. sometimes its like you've got a cigarette filter stuffed into your inner ear.

I don't know if this is related to water or wax.

If it is water (and possibly due to wax build up), I took a electronic hand warmer and heated up my
ear by laying my head on hand warmer until the water drained (sometimes 15 minutes.)

Wax cleaner was NOT working as I couldn't get the liquid out, post treatment. I suspect wax built up, holding the water,
then onto infections.

I repeatedly had ear infections.

This was my solution......

I used to have regular ear infections as an adult 30 years ago. My Dr. sent me to an allergist for testing. Seems I was allergic to many things I didn't know about, causing my body's immune system to work overtime. Eliminated my allergens from my diet, and no more ear infection since. YMMV I still have seasonal allergies that I have to deal with, but that's simple to do.
