EDUC DW had a thought about masks and education

The young learn to talk not only be listening but by observing how the lips and mouth moves. Put a mask on every adult around that kid in nursery school, kindergarten etc one might think it would have an affect.

Of course, once the kid gets his smartphone, he will stop talking anyway. So much so that schools are making "Conversational English" a Sr Class requirement so they can talk to recruiters.

That’s an interesting point that I hadn’t considered, Troke. I think it’s valid. Thank your wife for me.

There are masks available online now with clear plastic material over the mouth. I’m not sure how easily one can breathe through that, but kids can see teachers’ mouths.

They’d also be helpful for the hard of hearing who read lips, like my sister.

My daughter (1st grade teacher) was issued a clear face shield to wear while kids are in class. Kids are encouraged to wear masks it's optional. sounds like herding cats to me. That's in one school in Texas.

It's dehumanization at work here, with the masks and the germs. People are being programmed to avoid people on a personal level. It disgusts me to the core.

My dying Uncle had a visit from an old friend this week and she said, "If times were different, I'd give you a hug." He was deprived of affirming and comforting physical contact when he needed it most. People need at least four hugs a day.

Bought some of the clear masks for use with my hard-of-hearing patients. Useless for me. They fogged up within seconds. I ended up giving them away.

Not to mention the psychological damage that all this is planting in their little subconscious minds.

"Why am I so afraid?"

If the virus don't get ya, the derecho with the bombogenesis will throw your arse into the polar vortex. (In other words, you might get sick or we may get snow, right? Well, that's too last century. Doesn't create enough fear).

"Now put your mask on little Johnny so you can feel alienated, isolated, and all alone."
