PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police said the Justice Center in downtown Portland was "attacked" and a fire was set inside during a protest Friday night to denounce the killing of a black man by police in Minneapolis earlier in the week.
Other fires were set in other areas of downtown, as well.
Police have called the protest a riot.

housands of protesters have taken to the streets of Portland Friday night and there have been reports of damage at various locations.
Protesters in Portland joined thousands of others across the country to express their outrage over the death of a black man in police custody in Minneapolis earlier this week.

Protesters converged on the Justice Center in Southwest Portland shortly before 11 p.m. Graffiti was seen painted on the building, including a profanity, and other vandalism, including broken windows.

Reportedly, the Justice Center's fire-suppression system kicked in and put out the fire, but it wasn't immediately known how much damage was done.

Police descended upon the area and began ordering people over loudspeakers to disperse or be subject to force.

Protesters then grabbed wooden items out of a dumpster on Southwest 4th Avenue and set them on fire. It turned into a large fire in the middle of the street before firefighters arrived on the scene and put it out.

People broke windows of several businesses, including the Apple Store and the Pioneer Mall, and began looting them. Glass and debris could be seen throughout downtown.

Geez all the ‘individual, spontaneous’ protest attacking the same targets in the same way. It’s almost like its coordinated? Oh never mind media it is coordinated, coordinated And funded by the G Soros and his puppet organizations and unfriendly foreign governments.

To bad there is an increasing number of college indoctrinated useful idiots to spread mayhem and destruction.

Some idiot will go to way to far or some civilian will defend themselves and when someone dies the media will play it up for all it’s worth. Get the narrative out before facts have a chance to catch up.

Right now the progressives are seeing the failure of Corona sweeping them to political victory, now they are trying to radicalize the blacks back into the demo reservation before the fall elections.

Since this may be seem as last desperate gasp to steal the election I would expect massive money and coordination from back room democrats to create even more destruction and as many deaths as possible.

Until the back room money men and women are held accountable at the highest level these rent a mobs will continue.

Hell some demo politicians have invited riots in their own cities by publicly announcing pre stand down orders to Police. I will invite the city I am supposed to govern and protect to burn so my party can win an election in the fall.

You democrats by allowing the progressive radicals to take over your party and allow antifa to become your parties brown shirts have a lot to answer for.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler declares state of emergency after destructive protests, imposes curfew
Updated 8:01 AM; Today 6:53 AM

By Kale Williams | The Oregonian/OregonLive

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler declared a state of emergency in the city early Saturday morning after a night of destructive protests over the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed by police in Minneapolis.

Several businesses were looted, protesters set cars on fire and the Multnomah County Justice Center in Downtown Portland was ransacked.

“Demonstrators have gathered in many cities to protest Mr. Floyd’s death. Peaceful demonstrations are essential to our democratic system,” Wheeler wrote in the declaration. “Unfortunately, some individuals have engaged in unlawful and dangerous activity, including arson, rioting, looting, and damaging public and private property.”

The mayor imposed a curfew in Portland from 8 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, prohibiting all residents from traveling on “any public street or in any public place.” There were exemptions for those traveling to or from work, seeking help in an emergency or those experiencing homelessness. People found to be violating the curfew could face fines of up to $500.

Protests began in Minnesota after Floyd was killed on Monday and by Friday demonstrations had spread to more than a dozen cities across the nation with many turning violent.

Protesters in Portland gathered around 6 p.m. Friday for a vigil in a park in North Portland and marched toward downtown as police kept their distance from the rally. The vigil and march were organized by activist network Pacific Northwest Youth Liberation Front. Some members of the group have been holding constant vigil outside the Justice Center.

But the situation escalated as protesters moved south. Just before 10 p.m., a large group had gathered at the intersection of Northeast 7th Avenue and Northeast Morris and a passenger in a vehicle within the crowd was shot, police said. The victim went to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released. An Oregonian/OregonLive photographer saw a man on a skateboard hit by a car after the car drove toward marchers near the intersection of Northeast Shaver Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around the same time, but it was unclear if the two incidents were related. The pedestrian who was hit walked away from the collision, and the car drove away.

Protesters eventually congregated at the Multnomah County Justice Center, which houses the downtown jail and police precinct. People smashed windows and lit fires inside a first-floor office while corrections records staff were working inside, according to Chris Liedle, a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Workers were able to leave unharmed and the building’s sprinklers doused the flames, he said.

Police declared the gathering an unlawful assembly and attempted to disperse the crown with stun grenades, pepper balls and tear gas.

Protesters fanned out across downtown and some businesses, including the Apple store and stores in the Pioneer Place Mall, were looted. Around downtown, some cars were set aflame.

Two officers were injured, police said. One was struck in the head with a rock and another was hit with an “incendiary device.” Officials did not say the extent of their injuries.

At least 13 people were arrested as of 5 a.m., police said, on charges ranging from riot to theft to interfering with a police officer. More people were arrested after 5 a.m., but details of those arrests were not immediately available.

“We know what sparked the original demonstration and we provided space for those who needed to express grief,” said Acting Chief Chris Davis. “The mass destruction we saw tonight in our City is unacceptable. Anger at the police is one thing; destroying our City is another.”

Davis said police would be increasing their presence in the community and “leaning on our partners” in the coming days.

Wheeler said in a tweet he was returning to Portland from a trip he’d taken to be with his ailing mother.

ENOUGH.

I had to leave Portland today because my mother is dying. I am with family to prepare for her final moments. This is hard, this is personal, but so is watching my city get destroyed.

I’m coming back NOW. You will be hearing from me, @PortlandPolice, community leaders.

During an interview with KGW around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Wheeler decried the destruction.

“What’s going on right now is flat out breaking the law, violating our community, violating the memory of George Floyd and so many other people on such an important night,” Wheeler said.

Wheeler said he planned to hold a news conference Saturday and visit some of the businesses along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard that were damaged the previous night.

Yep --from what I've heard -- trucks spontaneously dropped off pallets of bricks on street corners in Dallas for rioters...

Really? Well, I guess and good military op has to figure in resupply.

So we have the “demonstrators” being bussed in, communication, resupply, and the opposing force is just standing down?

Humm, well, I guess the people have spoken! This is just a spontaneous, righteous Populous uprising Then!

This is exactly the type of crap the CIA would sponsor in turd world banana republics when they wanted to over throw the current government...

Nah, that’s too paranoid!

The property owners need a few Vassili's on rooftops, inside burned out stores, under burned out cars, behind piles of rubble, etc, etc. !!!

That would put the brakes on the festivities, PDQ !!!

:ld:

Doug, if you have not already gotten out, I hope you do so soon. In the meantime, I would hope you are prepared to leave quickly, on short notice. I hope you truly are not dependent on "public transportation "

Good luck, and watch your 6 !!!

Maybe the Portland protesters were woke enough to use "organic" rocks. There is an actual radio commercial here with the tag line, "Oregon's largest supplier of organic soil, mulch, and rock." I'm still trying to get my mind around the idea of what makes a rock "organic."

This is yet another reason why we need to understand prepping as more than buying stuff...

Many of were already veteran preppers when Katrina hit. I was a moderator on another board and I remember Stories from people in that area and surrounding areas.

Bugging out alone was bad...
Bugging out to a last resort location (like the terror dome) was bad...
Bugging out last minute was bad...
Bugging out on major roads and Interstates was bad...
Bugging out w/o a plan, back up plan, and back up to the back up was bad...
Bugging out w/o comms, supplies, food, weapons, cash, was bad...

and on and on...

Hopefully we all have at least a loose network of people we’ve cultivated relationships with who can relocate to our place, or, to who’s place we can go to when needed.

Thanks for the concern, but I move in the spirit now, and being Roman Catholic, at least up to the point I figured out they were child raping priests, and bishop and above cover up anyway. As such, I have a Guardian Angel, sneer all you want, but I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT. And Jesus watches my 6. :sheep:

Here is the deal. I am WHERE I NEED TO BE AND DOING WHAT I NEED TO DO. Period. If God wanted me out of here, I would be out of here. For example, you guys get to explain the following. Here it is last night, total chaos and rioting, massive property damage etc etc and guess what. I AM PROTECTED. I SLEPT THROUGH IT ALL. Thanks for the phone call, Doc1 but I just rolled over and went back to sleep, :lkick:

Like I said, I move in the spirit and I have found that to be a wild ass ride, truly amazing and leading to a kind of lethal contempt for the enemy. I tell you I pray against the dark lord and his demons, Ephesian 8 style prayers and you know what, SHIT STARTS TO HAPPEN. And yeah, I can ONLY DO THAT PHYSICALLY LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN. I am in Sodom, pissing on the fire hydrant. Now, you all out in your fortified villas, well I respect that, but it AIN'T ME.

Of course, I'm not throwing away my new AR-15. :ld:

I just got back from walking around a bit, waiting for the 8 pm curfew to start, and the riots to start at 8:01 pm. :hof:

I took some pictures of the damage, but they are too big to load here.

The ATM machine is boarded up since they tried to smash it open and steal the money. Next, the front doors to the Capital One store were all smashed in. The Starbucks at Pioneer Square is closed. The local Target and Rite Aid are closed and boarded up. If you start on Morrison all the way down to second, you will find block after block of damaged, boarded up stores, from 2nd to 10th, up by me. When I went out there were dozens of construction workers boarding up stores in all directions, preparing for the mass riots tonight.
The only store open is the local 7-11 where I got my coffee. I also saw Antifa types wandering around here and there.

I will keep posting on this thread for news specific to Portland. May have to sit in the lobby with my AR tonight. Some of the damage is less than 50 feet from my front building lobby door.

LOCK AND LOAD. GAME ON IN PORTLAND!

I just got back from a little walk to Broadway and Morrison. First, block after block, all the way from 2nd and Morrison to 12th and Morrison is covered with plywood on store after store. They have been working all day to deal with the damage. I was there less than a minute when 5 cop cars came roaring up Morrison from 2nd, SIRENS BLARING FULL ON. I couldn't figure out what they were doing until I started to hear car horns honking, dozens of them. Eventually, a LARGE MOB came walking up Broadway NORTH, Broadway goes SOUTH. The cars were likely honking in agreement with the marchers. I did see one couple in a cadalac who looked like they were about to get pulled out and beaten up. Finally, the mob comes marching up, on the sidewalk, more or less, for now ABOUT 600 OF THEM, ALL ANTIFA, AND ALL TACTICAL AND LOOKING TO ME THAT THEY WANTED TO STOMP SOME ASS. The PPD, well I didn't see any of them at all, so I know what is going to happen. Come 8 minutes from now, the "curfew" will take effect, and after 20 minutes of PPD BS, assorted announcements the ANTIFA are going to start shouting "KILL THE PIGS," AND IT WILL BE GAME ON. I have to say these punks have no fear at all, and there is no give in them at all.

Yep, here we go again.

Me, well I'm looking at my AR-15 on the bed, locked and loaded, 20 rounds in the clip and ready to go if I need it.

Last August 19th, I stood at the end of my hallway looking down at the street corner watching about 300 of them riot right on the MAX tracks next to my building. Oh yeah, we have a total leadership failure here in the USA.

In Nam -- when you were getting shot at you got as close to eating dirt as you could .. the 20 rd mag is level with the pistol grip -- a 30 rd mag would raise your rifle another inch to shoot .. An inch can make a big difference .. Urban firefights -- you have cover - so not an issue..

Only if conservatives own them. This is Oregon, after all.

That said, they couldn't find the Republicans who walked out of the Legislature. :D
