Misc Dona Maria Mole question

Neither here nor there.
I have a glass jar of Dona Maria Mole that expired in June of 2016 that's never been opened. Looks fine, just want to know if it's still usable or not.

I would look at the ingredients. When you look at the from scratch ingredients, dried chiles, peanuts, sesame seeds, chocolate, cinnamon and anise, I would be concerned about the sesame seeds. I guess I would just open it up and smell it. If the sesame seeds have become rancid you will know it.

What does that taste like? How do you use it? I've seen it but never bought it.

It's really hard to describe the taste, fruity, almost earthy, it's used in barbacoa, and other meat dishes. Homemade mole is the best obviously, and I now have all of the chilis, dried fruits, nuts, and the like to make my own. According to Patty from Patty's Mexican Table there's over 400 different types of Mole in Mexico and central America. They range from sweet and spicy, to very hot and tangy.

maybe this is a bit different but we had a tub of Dona Maria possum n' coon that expired in 2015 and it was still pretty tasty when we used it last month :shr:
