I came across a Ted Talk by a Swedish woman, Anna Rosling Ronnlund, who took pictures of over 100 things in the homes of families across the world and across income levels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4L130DkdOw

It is fascinating to see how similarly people live across the world at similar income levels.

As I saw the cooking setups and other things from the poorest people around the world, I realized that we can probably learn quite a few things from the world's poor. Seeing their ovens, water sources, beds, sources of heat and cool, stoves and cooking utensils might be some great inspiration for resourceful, innovative and inexpensive ways to meet basic needs.

I know that personally, I'm going to make sure that I have a cast iron pot and raised cast iron contraption that allows for relatively easy fire-making. I'll actually try to work that and some of the other things I saw into some of our outdoor summer living landscaping so that we can luxuriate around a campfire and cook in an improved version of many "living rooms" of the world. By taking some of the genius learned from hard experience, I expect that it will help to provide some innovative solutions that will actually allow use of that area if things ever get bad.

Very interesting and informative. What we call survival or primitive living is almost the norm is MANY places. Thanks for the share!!
