This is a ruff take!

City-dwelling dog owners are marking their “colonial” territory with pooches who are “gentrifying” neighborhoods, critics say in a bizarre online debate.

Sparking the controversy was a story in The Cut that delves into the growing hostility between dog owners and the dog-free in New York.

The article quotes Mia, of Prospects Lefferts Gardens, the proud owner of two terriers, who noticed a growing anti-dog sentiment brewing on her community Facebook group.

One post about picking up dog poop eventually spiraled into bonkers accusations that the pooches of PGL were “gentrifying the neighborhood.”

Mia, a New York-born Latina, told the outlet upon reading this she wondered “Are they saying that only white people have dogs?”

Another woman with an off-leash dog was apparently confronted in Prospect Park by someone filming her with her cellphone camera.

“She was asking me why I thought I was special, why my dog didn’t need to be leashed. Was it because of my white privilege?

In a viral tweet this week, an X user ran sparked further debate.

A gross annoyance like stepping on a pile of dog doo might sound like an ordinary inconvenience, but it turns out it’s actually an example of colonialist oppression.ccestep8 – stock.adobe.com
“Dogs in large cities are essentially settler-colonial—a way for their owners to move into and occupy more of the urban space than they are allotted while making it everyone else’s problem,” the tweet reads in part.

According to the New York Times, “settler-colonial” is a term of art recently adopted in far-left activist circles to decry everything from gentrification to poor environmental stewardship to capitalism itself.

So how do these people know if it’s dog poop (“bad”) or people poop (“good”)?

Asking for a friend.

That's a new one to me. Guess I'll be called that for one reason or another.

On a shaving board I mentioned I trash my DE razor blades after one use. 'That's just wasteful you crusty old f***.'

Anyway:
Local Reddit and FB it's now fashionable to complain about dog owners and their dogs. I understand if they don't pick up the dog's sh*t. But they're angry about this like it's racism.

Unfortunately, when we allowed medical workers to prescribe emotional support animals, we encouraged some of the worst dog owners to get dogs and then told people there's nothing you can do to a person with an emotional support dog.
Even if no dogs are allowed.

This is another example of mentally challenged liberals against mentally challenged liberals. Eating each other.

If I recall in recent years, when one made the argument that if you get a dog you should have a yard to let it out into for 1&2's and to chill outdoors. But it was some form of oppression to suggest one should have a yard for their dog. 'Those are white standards, and someone in an apartment with roommates should be able to own a dog too.'

That language comes from very aware, politically motivated legal hack. I guarantee his/her agenda is based on furtherance of his/her specific agenda items, not protecting the general populace by ensuring The Constitution protects and nurtures all those legally present in America.

Onlt the perspective of a Legally-present non-citizen.

Wait until a video comes out with a group of these psychos killing a dog.
I think I recall a case whee some one capped a guy attacking the shooter's dog w/ a machete or similar, claimed self dense to the cops and wasn't charged.

I think it was an agrarian state, not NYC, CA or one if their kindred.

Any one that harms my animals just signed their own death warrent.

But then, my animals aren't out crapping on public or other people's property. Back when my health permitted it I would walk the dog(s) quite often. I carried paper towels (or disposible gloves) and a large Ziploc bag and cleaned up after them if there was an "accident". Now they are in a fenced back yard and my cats are indoor only.

If I could afford it, I'd adopt 7 or 8 rescue wolves.

And pay even more to walk them in Washington park.

Good thing I'm a cat guy...
