CHAT Does anyone watch MSM anymore?

No, I gave it up during the Obama years and don't miss it. Once in awhile, we turn on local news to get weather and other info, but most of the time, no. Don't watch network programming at all, DH watches a few westerns and retro shows though. He pauses the shows at the beginning so he can fast forward through the commercials, and that way we don't see the pharma ads.

TV collects dust and probably hasn't been on for a month or more. Even watched the Kentucky Derby online.
Now that there's a means to be selective, I'm real selective. Probably haven't watched any kind of broadcast news in over 5 years except for comedic video clips here and there online.

I have to deal with the general public. That's my main excuse to watch MSM. And to know my enemy. If I have their talking points I can come up with better thought out or witty replies.

Like, did you get your latest flu shot or booster. No Sr. Or Mam I'm still waiting on the animal trials.

:D

Actually I stopped in 86. Then in late 90s started watching CNN and gave that up wheneve FOX got big but stopped watching that in 2015. Haven't missed it at all

If you're asking about MSM (main stream media) news (MSN) no, unless there is a breaking event, tornadoes, invasion of Gaza etc.

As for TV shows yeah. We have 5 favorites that we watch the Chicago series, NCIS and the last season of Blue Bloods.

As for the commercials mentioned in the OP, not on TV any longer. Some of the vax manufacture are pulling their vax due to the side effects (gasp who knew) and law suits, and no one taking them anymore, and record losses.

Behold, I am coming soon.
I haven't had a TV since 2008. I have missed NOTHING.

I grew up at the bay, fishing and listening to ball games and fights on the radio. Try it......especially baseball. It is much more intense on the radio.

"News" on TV has been controlled propaganda, my whole life.

Broadcast news, never, not even if the weather is bad. I get my tv news from Newmax. I really like their late afternoon people.

I see those ads because I watch reruns of NCIS and other older shows. I quit watching NCIS when Gibbs left but I've started watching the episodes after him lately and they are actually doing a good job.

Going to be a new NCIS this fall. NCIS: Tony and Zeva. Yeah they are back, married but in Europe opening an office with a teenage daughter.

I have it on by happenstance on occasion and don't really have an issue with listening to the commie's version of events.

I have a very good conservative filter. I do wonder sometimes how many people take what they spew as gospel though!

I still watch the old shows on the OTA “sub channels” (one reason I love the switch to HD.)

Star Trek
ST Next Generation
DS9
Voyager
Monk
Perry Mason
Have Gun Will Travel

I used to watch “Bull” on first-run V, but Covid killed that show. Same with Blue Bloods. I enjoyed The Walking Dead / Talking Dead up until about season 9. Now or course, it’s gone.

Neither here nor there.
I watch the local news at lunch and if we’re having severe weather I have the local station on. Otherwise I watch cooking and home Reno shows on Pluto or tubi tv, mysteries on acorn or britbox. Working my way through Vera at the moment and will finish Shetland after that. Love watching Brokenwood with OC on the weekends.

Same here. We have Paramount+ so we went through all of those, and then all the Mission Impossible movies. Then all the Star Wars on DVD, and just finished Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings on DVD, and mixing in all NCIS starting with S1 E1, and are in about season 13 ?.

We did watch Bull and you're right covid killed that show. Plus Michael Weaverly being brought up on charges of sexual harassment. Or was it just accused. By a couple of women on the show.

Watching on subchannels you may not know that Monk has a new movie out, with all the old heads in it. And they are old. It's a good one. I think it is called "Monk's last case."

And this will be the last season of Blue Bloods, so should be on sub channel Pluto soon.

I watch local news for local news. I watch MSM regularly, equal parts fox and cnn/msnbc.... NOT FOR NEWS, I just want to know what they are saying. Its almost all opinion anyway and shouldn't be classified as "news" anymore. There are tiny blips of news imbedded in some of the "newscasts" but its very tiny bits. There are so many important things happening in the world that have nothing to do with our President's choice of undergarments or our Ex-Presidents affairs from 20 years ago. Its just a soap opera designed to keep our eyes off of whats really happening.

I usually listen to Sirius XM, no TV but some AM radio. No matter what your political persuasion is you can find it and it seems to be more or less uncensored for the most part on Sirius XM. Some channels I checked out years ago and never listened to again and won't tune into, but, they are entitled to their own opinions and so am I.
