Disillusioned Americans eye NZ

INQUIRIES from Americans wanting to move to New Zealand have skyrocketed since George W. Bush was re-elected president of the United States.

The Immigration Service website had 10,300 hits from the United States the day after the election, compared with the daily norm of 2500.

Thousands of North Americans have migrated to New Zealand in recent years - attracted by the country's small population, clean, green image of bush-clad mountains, and isolation from world trouble spots - but the number now looks set to soar.

Phones at the Immigration Service offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland have been ringing constantly since the vote outcome, marketing manager Don Badman told the Dominion Post newspaper today.

There have been up to 300 telephone calls and emails a day compared with six to eight calls a day before the election.



"It's exploded. It really started picking up from 11pm the night of the election," he said.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Americans were also looking to Australia and Canada following the election.

Friends of mine are in a building consortium, and they absolutely hate dealing with the "yanks". They are rude, arrogant, demanding, selfish prats.

But they are also sheep.

The builders are so pissed off with them that they charge them double, and funnily enough, they never question the bill....

Even so, New Zealand is beautiful and the people are great. We'd love to have a 2nd home there, and spend spring and summer here, and then spend summer and fall down there, avoiding winter....of course that can be done as long as you simply go to the southern hemisphere for winter....

But the Kiwis have got a nice place down there.

If the current crop of whiners make good on their promise you will be inundated with selfish prats who will demand that NZ be made over in the image of their recently departed socialist hellhole in America. Once that is complete the whining will begin anew that you, the native NZers are unhappy about becoming the 51st American socialist state.

Anybody see that episode of Southpark where the californians all moved to Southpark because it was such a beautiful, quiet, small town in Colorado? One there they made it over into an image of the californian hell hole they just left. Once it became just like californian they moved on to the next beautiful, quiet, small town in Colorado to begin the process again.

I am sure there are many good people in CA but they are overshadowed by the evil socialists holding prominent positions.

That Southpark episode was true. It happened to the whole state of Colorado in the 90's.

Then of course they tired of us and most moved back to Cali and left Colorado changed forever.
