DELTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - One man has died following an incident that began at a Quality Dairy located at 7120 Lansing Road in Dimondale around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Michigan State Police said a masked man from Lansing, 77, and an unmasked man from Grand Ledge, Sean Ruis, 43, got into an altercation regarding wearing masks.
Police said the customer, Ruis, who was not wearing a mask was refused service by the store.
MSP said Ruis pulled out a knife and stabbed the 77-year-old Lansing man and then fled the scene from in a car.
MSP responded to the incident at the store, and the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
Police said an Eaton County deputy located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Jerryson Drive in Delta Township around 7:13 a.m.
MSP said Ruis immediately exited the vehicle and walked toward the deputy with weapons.
The deputy, a 22-year veteran, attempted to increase distance by backing up and “subsequently shot and injured” Ruis who was taken to the hospital and died during surgery.
At a press conference Tuesday, Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich said the stabbing victim was in serious condition after being taken to a local hospital. He didn’t know where or how many times the man was stabbed.
The MSP released a video of the incident on one of its Twitter accounts. The video is graphic in nature.
MSP also released body camera footage of the incident, which is also graphic.
Reich said it appeared Ruis came at the deputy with two knives and a screwdriver.
MSP said the deputy wasn’t injured.
“It’s very unfortunate she had to use her weapon,” Reich said. “She saved her life. That’s the most important thing here.”
Police were also at the Quality Dairy, where the store was blocked off with police tape Tuesday.
Quality Dairy CEO Ken Martin said no employees were injured in the incident and that the store will still comply with the mask order for customers.
“We’re just asking for all parties, regardless of what side of the mask issue you’re on, for civility,” Martin said. “Give (the employees) a break.”
Reich said, that as an Eaton County resident, he sees almost everyone wearing masks with a few exceptions. Some people may be disgruntled about it, he said.
“But, you know,” Reich said, “we’re all trying to stay safe and we’re all trying to abide by what the rules are.”
Reich told people to wear a mask.
“Let’s get through this together,” he said.
Aaron Jenkins, MDOT spokesperson, confirmed to News 10 that Ruis was a transportation technician at MDOT and has been working there since 2008. Jenkins said Ruis was expected to come to work Tuesday.
The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office said Ruis didn’t have any kind of criminal history in the county.
Both incidents remain under investigation by the MSP. Once their investigation is complete, it will be handed over to the Eaton County prosecutor’s office.

State police say a downstate man died Tuesday morning following a physical fight over wearing a mask inside a store.

It all started at a Quality Dairy store in Eaton County.

State police say an argument broke out between the man who wasn’t wearing a mask and a 77-year-old man.

They say the man who wasn’t wearing a mask stabbed the 77-year-old and then drove away.

An Eaton County deputy pulled him over later and the man pulled a knife on her.

That’s when state police say the deputy shot the man, who later died.

The stabbing victim was treated for his injuries.

State police are still investigating.

It all started over a mask. He stabbed a 70 year old man and fled. Then got shot while trying to stab the cop.

He was high on something is my guess. PCP like drugs can make people super humanly strong. Knew a guy's brother who took 9 to put him down on PCP.

Please all, remember the agenda is to make you so unhappy and uncomfortable that you vote for change, any change. Just not the folks who are in there now. The mask thing is part of it. Imagine if you will, someone getting ventilated for not wearing something that is ineffective at best. THAT was the tipping/starting point of this death. No covid, no mask, no death. The man would not submit to the state is what got this all going. He was killed for attacking a Policeman, nothing more. Senseless as all get out.

This^^^ Back when I was working as an EMT the stories other EMT's/medics had to share were epic. I remember one old cop telling us about the dude they shot 19 times and he still refused to die.

Poorly written article, lot of info not present. For instance one person is listed as 43yrs then reference "the younger man" Who's who in this incident? This is a professional Reporter?

Thank goodness for the update.

Or a glass wine bottle.

Fill up one of each with water and swing them a few times.

A wine bottle is just a bit too large & heavy to swing and control...at least to me.

Usually, you can find the messican soft drinks. They are thick glass bottles.

guy had to have problems to lose his shit over being told to wear a mask for a store. it wasnt the mask driving him nuts it was being told he had to do something he didnt want to do so he did the most logical thing in his mind---he attacked and stabbed the person preventing him from doing what he wanted. he repeated his stupidity by pulling a knife on a cop. guy was not right in the head.

people are unraveling after the pressures of being locked down, losing jobs, different states governors yanking peoples chains in power plays, food shortages and prices increasing , antifa and blm running wild. the tension is getting too much for some.

this is by design---
mess with peoples heads, mess with their lives, take away normal routines and jobs, keep people on edge, change the rules every few weeks. allow violent criminals to run wild. i believe the bio weapon virus is a very real threat we have to learn to deal with and we can.

all the rest is one big ass psyops

First order of business, find a heavy glass coke bottle when you get in the store.
Put it in the top part of your buggy, in case you need to adjust someone's attitude.
Might save the paperwork from having to shoot some @$$hole.

Remember the cameras. I will either leave the immediate area or abandon my basket and leave the store (if my gut tells me to).

Keep in mind that some people are off their meds. There is no reasoning with them. I choose not to engage in the first place.

That's great....until you get hemmed up with a pallet of beans and one of their stocking ladders in the aisle with two dumbasses who won't move their buggies so that you can back away from the threat.

Bad situations like this develop in seconds.

Have a stealth weapon.
