Help Cricut Expression 2

Long story but there is a Cricut Expression 2 headed my way at the emd of December, with two very loaded Gypsys.

I honestly haven't been able to get to super enthused about this. Part of that long story.

But it did occur to me that if I could find an old version of the Sure Cuts A Lot program, I could do custom fabric cutting for patches and some decorations.

Suggestions? Ideas? Guidance?

Okay. Now that brain is more fully awake and I'm not on my phone.

Turns out that yes, you truly can cut fabric. But you have to use heat n bond. Once upon a time, that would have been a deal killer. Nowadays, there are sewable versions of heat n bond that won't gum up my sewing machines. So this really has options. And I did see someone use masking tape around the edges. So I can see washable stabilizer working if needed. And it gets really good if I can find an open pressure foot for my Viking 190.

I'm still looking into the program that might be able to move custom designs onto it for printing. Because that is likely where I will be happier for things for me. Things for son are pretty much covered by the cartridges. Things for patching for friend are likely covered by cartridges as well. If not, I'll do some custom owls for him.

I'm not, at the moment, seeing much use for the vinyl for me. But I might be able to use it for son, for homeschool stuff and just some fun decorations. Or if they have a dry erase or chalkboard vinyl, that could be useful in the pantry.
