Cracking feet...!

Its not really painful(yet) but ive had a bout or two with it before and I'm curious if there is a easy way to fix it? My feet are, i assume, getting dry with the dry winter air and have started to crack and skin is flaking off in some areas... The heals are the worst but the cracks are also on the sides of my feet... Anyone know a good safe home remedy for this? I'm not against OTC stuff either i just prefer cheap since im a broke college student!

Two things - start taking flaxoil seed capsules daily and buy some O'Keefe's Healthy Hands or Healthy Feet (either work) and use that on the cracks. The capsules will be available at any grocery/pharmacy. The Healthy Hands I buy at a farm supply but I think it's probably available at drug stores or maybe Walmart.

working on it
Hubby works construction and is in work boots all day. And on his feet all day.
He gets cracks on the heels and in the arch ( ouch).

I told him to use the same thing he uses for his hands ( which crack when he does concrete), it's called : Corn Huskers Lotion. It's got a yellow, green and white label, and it's like $3 at Walmart. It's usually on the bottom shelf in the lotions aisle because it's not considered a " name" brand. It's a clear gel almost.

Hubby loves it. Uses it all the time. I told him about it waaaay back. My mom used it way back in the 60's and 70's. It's been around for a while. It smell nice too. LOL

Fish oil

be careful about brand. Flax may also work, I don't know anything about it.

Keep your feet meticulously clean, washing twice a day, and always wear clean socks. After you wash, while your feet are still damp gently scrape the dead skin, it will take a while to see improvement. After you do that, moisturize with something that works for you, many people are sensitive to products with fragrance.

If your shoes are damp and stinky rotate them with other shoes, and let them dry in the sun. Shoes last much longer if you don't wear the same pair every day.

Plain old petroleum jelly and socks is amazing. My feet do the same thing and it works wonders!

DH used to use that, but the cracking got so bad that even CH didn't totally fix it.

I got him some FLEXITOL heel balm, and that is what he uses now.

I've read that in the olden days it would have been clarified goose grease or lard, maybe bag balm if you were on a farm.

I use body butter and socks for heavy duty foot and heal moisturizing, most have coconut oil or coco butter in 'em, but I imagine even Crisco would work if that's all you had handy.
