Coming for the children...Emanuel's "Real Patriot Act"

Gateway Pundit writes this morning that Obama has outlined his plan to indoctinate the children into community service (so they, too, can be President someday) by requiring 50 hours every year for elementary and high school students and 100 hours every year for college students. Again, more examples of what IS NOT charity - government-mandated work is not service to the community.
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/11/change-obama-announces-creation-of-his.html

"...The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation’s challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps and will create a new Classroom Corps to help teachers in underserved schools, as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps. Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America,..."

Rahm Emanuel is on the same page it seems, and has been for a while...

How ironic is it that for all of the psychotic fear mongering the left engaged in 2004 over the draft, Barack Obama has just chosen a chief of staff who legitimately supports a plan to send 18-25 year olds into compulsory service.

This is an excerpt from Emanuel's 2006 tome, "The Plan: Big Ideas for America", or what Emanuel calls "The Real Patriot Act"

Universal Citizen Service

"...If you forget everything else you read in these pages, please remember this: The Plan starts with you. If your leaders aren't challenging you to do your part, they aren't doing theirs. We need a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us by establishing, for the first time, an ethic of universal citizen service..."

"...Here's how it would work. Young people will know that between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five, the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service. They'll be asked to report for three months of basic civil defense training in their state or community, where they will learn what to do in the event of biochemical, nuclear or conventional attack; how to assist others in an evacuation; how to respond when a levee breaks or we're hit by a natural disaster. These young people will be available to address their communities' most pressing needs..."

What do I have against "community service"? Nothing. Anyone who volunteers their time is an exceptional person and commands my respect. We use our dogs for many different kinds of SAR, US&R and CTT tracking for missing persons. But forced service? In the name of the community? It's nothing short of collectivism - it assumes that we're all the same, that we all just lay around watching TV and playing video games. That we all react the same way to the blessings of the Obama Messiah.

And what happens when the shine wears off the new program - when people stop showing up for their mandatory charity? Fines? Jail time? Re-education camps? Another aspect of our lives regulated? Will we then have to form an enforcement agency and a network of tattletales to inform on shirkers?

What the hell have we created here?

I'd be interested in the spin the lefties here would put on this.

It would be quite humorous if one of the lefties showed up at someone's house to demand their child 'participate' - as that would be about the last thing they'd ever do in their life.

heh heh

But seriously, forced community service will never happen, cuz the lefties here would all be kicked off the forum. :groucho:

They think they own your labor already by the fact that they tax you so highly.

Why not give them your children for a few months too.

Kids in my city already have to do community service to graduate (I think it's 40 hours). I have thought it's weird since I first heard of it. It used to be you only got community service if you did something wrong, or were a criminal. But ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KIDS? What the?

Very Orwellian. And the left can't see that this is Socialism at it's finest?

you can find out a lot about this administration's plans, including the one to expand the size of the military [now, HOW do you do that?]:

won't ever happen...

There's way too many teenagers who just plain don't give a sh-t about anything other than themselves. Try telling them they have to spend 50 hours doing community service, and we're going to end up with a buttload of highschool dropouts...

They had a program very similar to this in Germany in the 1935-1945 era...

It was called the "Hitler Youth" program.

How did that turn out?

Another country came in and kicked Germany's ass. I don't want another country have to kick OUR ass. I don't want future historians to ask us the questions we've asked of Germany: "Didn't you know what was happening? Why did you let it happen?"

Folks, if you voted for this guy, wake up. See where he will take us all if we do not resist. Get some SERIOUS buyer's remorse.

It would be ironic if Obama were to violate the thirteenth amendment:

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation

Typical leftists.

BO's service? Rahm's service? None.

But they're going to decide how you serve, with no idea themselves how it works.

Military service? None.

But they're going to decide how to use something they do not understand.

Firearms knowledge and training? None.

But they're going to decide gun laws.

Once again, how Orwellian.

What happens if we were to sign up the majority of most of the liberals that we knew though, since they voted Kim Jong Obama in to office...

These are precisely the kids he is looking for, give them a taste of power, show them hao they can instill fear in the people around them, video game killers unite.

Interesting that a black leader wants to re-establish slavery in modern times.

Hey, I just had a thought. If we "serve," can we get REPARATIONS??

I hope none of this mentioned above in the article ever comes into being.
Citizen unrest surely would show up then..:sldr:

hmmm...I remember the days of requiring my kids to do things (like chores, homework). Very bad strategy.

Of course, there was passive rebellion...alot of foot dragging and complaining.

And they usually did a pretty poor job.

Mandatory service is likely to destroy volunteerism and the desire to service one's community.

This is HILARIOUS (but scary). Hilarious in the fact that all these moron kids voted for "Hope!" and "Change!" now have to dedicate two hours of their lives PER FREAKING *WEEK* to Obama. (Darn..there goes multiple hours per week of Grand Theft Auto..)

Hey, kids..next time - FIGURE OUT YOUR CANDIDATE'S POSITION ON *THE ISSUES* BEFORE CASTING YOUR VOTE, k?!

I just have to laugh my tail off. (Well, I would, if the whole situation weren't so tragic overall).
