WalMart carries them in the camping section. They also have propane ovens. LdyH has already asked for one of each for birthday presents....

(oh, and this thread is in the WRONG FORUM!!!)

Wow, that is neat.. I dont do a whole lot of slow cooking.. but lord knows I have enough propane stored to power these small propane devices for at least a year.. lol

I may pick one up, that could come in handy for keeping soups and stuff warm. Anyone know the price on these things?

I always thought the "Road trip Slow cooker" was food wrapped in aluminum foil placed on the engine where it cooks while you drive.

I'll pass...you'll go through one bottle of propane for every one or two meals.

Do you leave it sitting on the picnic table for hours while you go fishing or hiking--a lit propane appliance? No bears, raccoons, or kids are going to bother it all that time?

$72? I use a camp stove and a pressure cooker I got at a garage sale for 3 bucks--a pork chop dinner with potatoes, carrots, and gravy is ready in 20 minutes, so I can get 12 meals out of that bottle of propane.

Don't need their $42 coffee maker, either--got a Melitta cone for 25 cents, and a thermos carafe it goes on top of for a buck. Another $1 thermos keeps soup and chili hot for hours.

I can make popcorn in my pressure cooker, too...

I don't know. This sort of looks like an answer in search of a question to me. A haybox sounds more practical.

This forum is filled with a lot of people that aren't necessarily "mainstream" (to say the least! ) Our society is pretty gadgety.... so this might go over real well with the motorhome set. However, I'm with you. I like the haybox. :)

The Coleman unit is easier to pack on trips to SCA events, tho!

Must admit I love slow cookers, and use my electric one at home a lot.

Out and about though I use a Kelly Kettle (carry a little dry kindling in the kettle, and just pick up all the fuel for free) and unbreakable stainless thermos flasks for slow cooking.

I saw it yesterday at Wallyworld. Yep, I'm gonna end up with one. We live and travel in our rv, and boondock. I miss my crockpot! We have a hose that will hook it up to a regular propane tank rather than those expensive little bottles.

Yep....I'm gonna get one!
