Citizens’ Arrest: Watch These Home Depot Shoppers Take Down a Thief

A video from a Home Depot parking lot in Vermont went viral this week after a group of shoppers got fed up with a thief. The man was attempting to leave the store with a shopping cart full of expensive stolen tools when he suddenly found himself under a citizens’ arrest—but only after the citizens had whipped the tar out of him.

Americans are getting fed up with the rampant shoplifting and crime taking place in cities ever since BLM committed the George Floyd domestic terrorist attacks. People will only tolerate lawlessness for so long before taking the law into their own hands.

When governments do not perform their most basic duty of protecting the citizens, something will always come along to fill the vacuum. Sometimes it will be in the form of citizen patrols and vigilantism. Sometimes the result is much worse, like what we’re seeing in the horrifyingly corrupt nation of Haiti (again) this month.
These shoppers at Home Depot obviously reached their breaking point when they saw a guy trying to steal thousands of dollars’ worth of power tools. They pay their taxes; they pay for the expensive items at the store and behave as honorable citizens. Why should some Democrat wearing a COVID mask as a disguise be allowed to rip off a store?

Watch this heartwarming video as a group of complete strangers come together to work toward a common goal for the good of their community. Just to warn you, there is some NSFW language in the video.

Many years ago, when my late dh worked for Walgreens, he got into trouble for chasing and catching a shoplifter. They refused to pay him for time appearing in court, so dh said screw it and looked the other way thereafter.

Another time a man was leaning all his weight on a glass counter trying to reach the watches in the case when the glass broke. Dh took him to the pharmacy for first aid on his cut arm while waiting for the police. Pharmacist poured rubbing alcohol into the cut. Dh was shocked that pharmacist did that and said it was the first time he ever saw a black man turn white. Dh was not racist but guess the pharmacist was.

I saw someone shoplifting at Walmart and reported it, but nothing was done so I no longer bother reporting what I see.

When I worked at Sears, policy was to not go after or stop a shoplifter. You had to call security and they would call the police. Of course by the time they showed up the shoplifter was gone. Evan security was not allowed to go after the shoplifter. It was for our safety and the store could not get sued.

Looks like someone parked a little too close to the contractor's entrance! Good for them!

Years ago, I was shopping in our one small supermarket in our tiny rural town, when I noticed a group of "teens" from the local "Children's Home" (read, juvenile hall) with a supervisor... apparently on a "field trip". Let's just say they were instantly noticeable because of the diversity compared to the white bread town citizens.

I saw one pick several large packs of batteries off a display and tuck them into his jacket. A couple others were taking advantage of the five finger discount, as well. I immediately went to the manager of the store, who basically said their hands were tied. I was furious.

I also knew the director of the place. So I called him, still angry. The upshot was "field trips" to local businesses were ended for several years. I'm sure their bottom lines improved!

...so when's their court date? Will they be frogmarched out of their homes at 6:00 AM, in their nightclothes, with their families watching while some pompous and probably black district attorney who practically has Soros' name tattooed on their forehead gravely intones about how lawlessness and vigiliantism will not be tolerated?

Given that many corporations have fired employees for apprehending shop lifters, I'm wonder if HD will suspend these guys' shopping privileges?

Personally I'd give them each a Gift Cert or Card!

Home Depot has a market cap of 376.45 billion USD as of this writing.

The largest shareholders in December 2023 were:
  • The Vanguard Group (9.49%)
  • BlackRock (7.15%)
  • State Street Corporation (4.35%)
  • Capital World Investors (3.86%)
  • Geode Capital Management (2.01%)
  • Morgan Stanley (1.93%)
  • Capital Research Global Investors (1.48%)
  • Bank of America (1.45%)
Won't catch me trying to stop anyone stealing from them, not with my health insurance deductible.

Common law. Right and wrong. Corporate America, and many jurisdictions won't prosecute. So We the people must keep order in society. Pretty sad. But that is where we are.
On a jury. I would nulnullify any charges. If ever brought up on these Men. Real men...

While it is heartwarming, I doubt home depot would provide legal counsel for those guys when they get sued.

I have zero interest in spending my hard earned money defending actions in a court of law trying to stop shrinkage at home depot.

Store security must be extremely lax to allow him to walk off with a cart of high-end merchandise.
In Memphis - by - the - Mississippi, they all but hold the door open for them; so common, unless it's a really slow day (less than 4 shootings) such brazenness rarely makes the cut as news.

That's the problem today, you cannot do anything without it being filmed and posted on the Internet. Without it having been filmed they could have given the thief a good beat down and walked away. Now the whole world knows about it.

My sis was showing a home she was selling. Long story short. Someone ( young couple) who she showed the house … last showing of the day … came back at night and robbed the home. There was an estate sale as well. They took the jam bar out and unlocked a window for entrance later. She remembers one of them distracting her in another room while the other did the dirty.

Stole her IPad too. Well she initiated the … find my Ipad. She watched them drive it to their location a couple hours away. The cops wouldn’t do anything even though she could prove exactly where the IPad was.

I was floored.

If it were me I’d of taken matters into my own hands.

This will only get worse. I would not shop at stores that allow these thieves. I do not shop at Walmart, Walgreens, or CVS.
