A Church of England archdeacon has been labelled racist after openly calling for “anti-whiteness.”

The Ven Miranda Threlfall-Holmes, Archdeacon of Liverpool wrote on X “I went to a conference on whiteness last autumn. It was very good, very interesting and made me realise: whiteness is to race as patriarchy is to gender.”

Threlfall-Holmes, who is white, added “So yes, let’s have anti-whiteness, and let’s smash the patriarchy. That’s not anti-white, or anti-men, it’s anti-oppression.”

So yes, let’s have anti whiteness, & let’s smash the patriarchy.
That’s not anti-white, or anti-men, it’s anti-oppression.

Anti-whiteness isn’t anti-white? What exactly is it then?
When asked to explain by The Telegraph, Threlfall-Holmes claimed that X is “perhaps not the best place for a nuanced argument,” adding “I was contributing to a debate about world views, in which ‘whiteness’ does not refer to skin colour per se, but to a way of viewing the world where being white is seen as ‘normal’ and everything else is considered different or lesser.”

The backlash was swift:

The Telegraph notes that the conference the Archdeacon is referring to was a day-long “Racial Justice Conference” in Birmingham organised by Reconciliation Initiatives, a charity working in partnership with Coventry Cathedral to help churches “contribute to reconciliation in wider society”.

The report further notes that the conference aimed “To encourage white participants to take next steps in facing their own whiteness, and in addressing institutional racism within Anglican churches and provinces.”

The group is also running a four-week long course titled “Being White” which asks clergy and lay members to consider “the ways we are caught up in a system of white superiority and white advantage in UK society.”

The Church of England has been heavily criticised recently for leaning into this kind of stuff.
The church recently announced it would be hiring a “deconstructing whiteness” officer to form part of a “racial justice unit” being set up by the Diocese of Birmingham.

In 2023 the CofE also established a £100 million fund to “address past wrongs of slavery,” even as some church buildings are literally falling apart.

In 2021, the CofE announced it was introducing quotas for black and ethnic clergy to pave the way for ‘anti-racism training’ in the Church, as well as ‘contextualising church statues that may cause offence.”

The CofE has become so infested with wokery in general to the point that it has considered dropping the phrase “our Father” from the start of the Lord’s Prayer, and instructing clergy to refrain from using male pronouns when talking about God.

Some churches have gone as far as erasing references to the nativity and Jesus in a Christmas carol and replacing them with a celebration of “queer” people.

In July last year, the Church of England refused to define what a woman was, saying they had no definition of it on their books, despite still ostensibly opposing same sex marriage.

Also last year, a vicar was officially rebuked for expressing criticism of the CofE’s decision to appoint a transgender archdeacon, after he noted that the person is “biologically, a bloke.”

Just as a side note: The Church of England/Anglican Church over there in England, is called the "Episcopal Church" here.

Boston Christian Leaders Call on ‘White Churches’ to Pay Millions in Slavery Reparations

Boston, Massachusetts, Christian leaders are calling on “white churches” to dole out millions of dollars in reparations to black people to rectify their history with slavery.

“We call sincerely and with a heart filled with faith and Christian love for our white churches to join us and not be silent around this issue of racism and slavery and commit to reparations,” Reverend Kevin Peterson said at a recent event at Resurrection Lutheran Church, the Daily Mail reports.

According to the reverend, King’s Chapel, Arlington Street Church, Trinity Church, and Old South Church must “publicly atone for the sins of slavery” and “commit to a process of reparations” due to hundreds of slaves being owned by their clergy and parishioners in the past.

“Where they will extend their great wealth – tens of millions of dollars among some of those churches – into the black community,” Peterson said, adding that a letter signed by 16 clergymen sent to the named churches outlined their reparations plans.

The group of clergymen — who the outlet noted is made up of black and white Christians — listed payment methods including cash, creating affordable housing, or erecting “financial and economic institutions in Black Boston.”

Peterson also pointed to the Catholic Church for assisting in “sustaining institutionalized racism across the city.”

“Not only are we looking at the period of slavery, we’re looking at three centuries of institutionalized anti-black racism and the Catholic Church is inclusive of the churches we want to engage,” he stated.

The event was put together by the Boston People’s Reparations Commission, which has been pushing for the city government to pay out a whopping $15 billion for its participation in chattel slavery.

Rev. Peterson has also called on Faneuil Hall Marketplace, located in the city’s historic area, to be renamed to get rid of the association to Peter Faneuil, the slave trafficker who built it.

Reverend John Gibbons of Arlington Street Church — one of the institutions named in the letter — joined the event and said that it is not enough for churches to simply discuss their history and the concept of reparations.

“Somehow we need to move with some urgency toward action and so part of what we’re doing is to prod and encourage white churches to go beyond what they have done thus far,” he said.

King’s Chapel already acknowledges that ministers and church members owned a total of 219 slaves throughout its centuries-long history, while Old South Church published a report “on its historical ties to slavery” according to the outlet.

Reverend John Edgerton of Old South is on board with the reparations activists’ effort, telling the Boston Globe that the church “is committed to learning the truth about our history and making repair — the God who loves justice demands nothing less.”

The Archdiocese of Boston stated that the “suffering of the black community is constantly with us in the Commonwealth and nationally” and announced that leaders would “certainly review” what the activists proposed.

All I ever hear is the black man at the veneer mill I worked at....

"They won't fire me, I'm black and they know they will get sued..."

After they railroaded and slandered me, a disabled combat vet that they hired and got a tax break because of it.

I see our gvt. Giving a life to illegals and taking away from those who fought and fight for this country..

Disgusted with the suits...more and more every hour.

Every person that does this should be immediately required to resign and have a brown person appointed in their place.
Already happening in Boston.

According to the picture only need to replace two more.

Apostate "churches" advocating for persecution. Please, Lord Jesus, come soon.
Agreed. I did notice this:

“We call sincerely and with a heart filled with faith and Christian love for our white churches to join us and not be silent around this issue of racism and slavery and commit to reparations,”
If THEIR hearts were filled with faith and Christian Love, there would be forgiveness on their part towards people who participated in slavery. Hypocrites. They are whited sepulchers full of dead man's bones. Having a form of godliness but denying the power there of.

Really. And none of them even know what slavery feels like. A friend of mine was doing her family tree years ago, and discovered that the majority of black people in this country today are not even descendants of slave ancestors. Most of them came to this country AFTER slavery had been abolished.

I know we all could go on and on about the slavery issue, at least I know I could, on several levels.

But you are right. The United States abolished the IMPORTATION of slaves in 1807/8. From that point forward, the only slaves in the US were born as slaves here in the US. Any African that came here after that date, came as freemen.

At least that is my understanding.

The Act Prohibiting Importation of Slaves of 1807 (2 Stat. 426, enacted March 2, 1807) is a United States federal law that prohibited the importation of slaves into the United States. It took effect on January 1, 1808, the earliest date permitted by the United States Constitution.

This legislation was promoted by President Thomas Jefferson, who called for its enactment in his 1806 State of the Union Address. He and others had promoted the idea since the 1770s. It reflected the force of the general trend toward abolishing the international slave trade, which Virginia, followed by all the other states, had prohibited or restricted since then. South Carolina, however, had reopened its trade. Congress first regulated against the trade in the Slave Trade Act of 1794. The 1794 Act ended the legality of American ships participating in the trade. The 1807 law did not change that—it made all importation from abroad, even on foreign ships, a federal crime.

And so just because you are black, doesn't mean your ancestor was a slave, especially if you can't prove your line was here before 1808.

If I heard that sort of garbage in church, I'd run -- not walk -- to the exit.

In theory, I do my best to judge people on their character and actions. In practice, if I'm walking alone at night and some gang-banger type is walking towards me, I'm going to take evasive action: my safety always comes first.

I would like to say Yeah, and be done, but I think she really needs a good husband, a good family, and kids, and stop filling in the positions as if you are a man, with progressive liberal feelings.

Be who you are. You don't have to search for it, it's staring you in the mirror.

The irony. The white English Christian parliament outlawed the African slave trade during the life of Wilber Wilberforce. the northern Yankees fought the southern confederates (both sides consisting of white Christians ) To free the southern slaves. Lot of blood and death involved for both sides in all that. So white Christians freed the slaves, and tried to repatriate them to Africa, to Liberia, but gave up As impossible. They were multiplying too fast. Yet they are still free to leave ”go home to happy, happy Africa” anytime they wish!

Yes, your statement is true about Wilburforce, and the repatriation. And in most cases little known. However...

the northern Yankees fought the southern confederates (both sides consisting of white Christians ) To free the southern slaves.
That part is wrong. It is a part of the narrative the Unionist, of today, and Republicans, in particular, like to promote as true when it wasn't. Much like the reparations narrative today, where all white men owe the black man a living. Cuz ya know all white men in 1861 owned a slave.

The Civil War was fought over money. Mostly the loss of it, IF the South seceded. Which is where the North got their money through tariffs.

You will note the North called themselves "The Union". Odd name to call oneself if the war was over slavery. "Abolitionist" would have been more accurate.

But no, "Union" is accurate in that the North, to preserve their money, and prevent secession, fought for the "Union" of the states, and not separation. Sherman was so adamant about preserving "The Union" that he would kill every Confederate he could. Sherman cared not a single twit, about blacks, nor their plight, and beseeched Lincoln to do something about all the "negros" who were following his Army, for food.

Not trying to give you a hard time, or argue. And the US Law as I noted above was against it the importation of slavery, and It was truly the white man who undertook to free slaves of every race, including white.

And the blacks in this country don't need to look down there nose at the whites (or white females at whites) not only because it was the whites who freed them, war or not, but also it was the same skin color,(different tribe) who first captured and imprisoned them. For money.

Hope that doesn't sound to rough on you, because I don't mean it that way.
