California Democrats in Orange County are demanding that the county’s John Wayne Airport be renamed and all likenesses of Wayne be removed from the airport, over “racist and bigoted statements” made by the American icon decades ago.

“The Democratic Party of Orange County condemns John Wayne’s racist and bigoted statements, and calls for John Waynes’ name and likeness to be removed from the Orange County airport, and calls on the OC Board of Supervisors to restore its original name: Orange County Airport,” the resolution, passed Friday, says.

The resolution, first reported by the Los Angeles Times, calls on the Orange County Board of Supervisors to reverse the 1979 decision to rename it after Duke, and cites remarks he made in a 1971 interview with Playboy.

“I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people,” he said in that
“I don’t feel guilty about the fact that five or 10 generations ago these people were slaves,” he said at another point in the interview.

There have been a number of pushes to rename the airport as a result of those comments after they resurfaced. Wayne’s defenders have said it is unfair to judge him based off remarks made nearly 50 years ago, and when he is no longer alive to defend or even retract them.

The latest push comes amid a movement across the country to tear down monuments and rename buildings and institutions that are named after people deemed to have held racist views or committed racist acts.

The Democratic resolution hails a “national movement to remove white supremacist symbols and names is reshaping American institutions, monuments, businesses, nonprofits, sports leagues and teams, as it is widely recognized that racist symbols produce lasting physical and psychological stress and trauma particularly to Black communities, people of color and other oppressed groups, and the removal of racist symbols provides a necessary process for communities to remember historic acts of violence and recognize victims of oppression."

According to the LA Times, Wayne lived a good portion of his life in Newport Beach in Orange County, was a political power broker in the county and was buried in the city after his death in 1979.

Get your Duke DVDs while you can. Netflix is pulling all his stuff. Also Duke impressions. Also any film that has a reference to royalty, because it reminds people of dukes.

John Wayne Gacy would be a good choice of airport name. They wouldn't have to change the exterior signage much, and informational brochures and letterheads could be "rubber stamped" with the correction.

It is a "death wish" for the Democrats, of course. Re-make the nation in their moral image.

Today's Communist Democrats share many of Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung's goals in the destruction of America.

Flashback:
How John Wayne survived Soviet assassination

Joseph Stalin ordered the KGB to assassinate John Wayne because he considered his anti-communist rhetoric a threat to the Soviet Union, according to a new biography of the film star based on interviews with Wayne's close associates and the movie legend Orson Welles.

Stalin apparently learned of Wayne's popularity from the Russian filmmaker Sergei Gerasimov, who attended a peace conference in New York in 1949. Michael Munn, a film historian and author of John Wayne - The Man Behind The Myth, said Gerasimov told Stalin of Wayne's fervent anti-communist beliefs.

"Stalin decided that he would have him killed," said Mr Munn, who says he was told of the plot by Orson Welles at a dinner in 1983. Welles had said that the KGB was given the task of assassinating Wayne.

"Mr Welles was a great storyteller," said Mr Munn, "but he had no particular admiration for John Wayne." He said that Welles had offered the story without prompting, and that his sources were excellent.

A prominent Russian filmmaker, Alexei Kapler (who was imprisoned for an affair with Stalin's 16-year-old daughter, Svetlana), had told another Russian filmmaker, Sergei Bondachuk, about the order. Bondachuk was sceptical at first, but after Gerasimov confirmed the story, Bondachuk told Welles.

Mr Munn said Wayne had also told him that his friend, the stuntman Yakima Canutt, had "saved his life once". Mr Munn later asked Mr Canutt what he had meant by this comment. The incident is thought to have taken place in the early 50s.

"Yakima told me that the FBI had discovered there were agents sent to Hollywood to kill John Wayne," said Mr Munn. "He said the FBI had come to tell John about the plot. John told the FBI to let the men show up and he would deal with them."

Wayne then apparently hatched a plot with his scriptwriter at the time, Jimmy Grant, to abduct the assassins, drive to a beach and stage a mock execution to frighten them. Mr Munn said he did not know what transpired, but heard the two men stayed in the US to work for the FBI.

"Afterwards though, John shunned FBI protection and did not want his family to know. He moved into a house with a big wall around it."

Wayne then relied upon a group of loyal stuntmen who infiltrated communist cells in America and learned of plots to kill him.
"He then gathered all the stuntmen, went to the communist meetings, and had a huge fight," Mr Munn said. This was when Wayne believes Mr Canutt saved his life.

A further attempt to kill Wayne was made in Mexico on the set of the film Hondo (which was released in 1953), led by a communist cell, according to Mr Munn.

The book claims that Stalin's order was cancelled by his successor Nikita Krushchev after the dictator's death in 1953. The book says Krushchev told Wayne in a private meeting in 1958: "That was a decision of Stalin during his last five mad years. When Stalin died, I rescinded that order."

Wayne also told Mr Munn about an attempt to kill him by an enemy sniper while he was visiting the troops in Vietnam in 1966.

"One of the snipers was captured," said Mr Munn, "and said there was a price on John's head, put there by [China's communist leader] Mao Tse Tung."

Mr Munn said he had gathered the anecdotes over decades of work in the film industry. "I am quite convinced that it was not propagated by John or his inner circle," he added.

I’m actually starting to pity these poor people. How sad it must be to flounder around in life, so miserable and dissatisfied with everything that they need to begin erasing history in an attempt to feel more safe, secure, and valued. They’ll keep trying and trying, removing and erasing anything that offends or doesn’t align with their narrow little world. And at the end of the day, they’ll still be just as miserable and dissatisfied as they were at the start.

These people need Jesus in the worst way. I am praying for my enemies...

There are 167 countries in the world that still practice human trafficking and slavery......effecting 46 million people (of which the vast majority are Black)....

...not one of those countries practicing that is a modern White built nation...........

............and these BLM clowns are worried about names, and the past and flags while 46 million mostly Africans are still enslaved by non-White run countries.......

They don't care about blacks at BLM...........they are commies wanting gibsmedat hand out and catering from a nation that if they didn't end up here their ancestors would have been killed and/or eaten if they remained in Africa...............

BLM doesn't care about Black slavery worldwide.......and they don't care about Black deaths by other Blacks in US cities........

For them it is nothing but "target White man"..........and to hell with Black deaths that have nothing to do with our target.

BLM is either full of cowards, fakes or the ignorant............

The calls to remove statues, names, etc., of people from the past who had an opinion that is not the same opinion that the "tolerant" of today have is very disturbing, to say the least. But, even more disturbing is that their wishes are being granted! Will there ever be a voice courageous enough that says, "No, we are not going to change that name or remove that statue." Bending to the screams of a mob will never end well. Nothing will ever satisfy them. If they would listen to themselves, maybe they will come to realize how ignorant they are. In essence, they are saying that their way is right and only their thoughts can be expressed. Sadly, I think that things are only going to get worse.

I named my only Child, son, after John Wayne. He had a short life of 43 yrs. He was always answering the question with "yes, my Mom named me after the John Wayne". I never thought we would see this drop so low. They are so mental that it makes normal good people sick!

I doubt it. Look at the number of people (mostly on their knees) agreeing with them.
Yes. And to a person they are Democrats.

Owner's wife has a bumpersticker with a quote by Hugh Downs.
“A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.”
And the only reply to this is "Yes, happy ones."

Like the Democrats, kind of a "duh" moment.
