Britain's Queen Elizabeth is experiencing 'mild cold-like symptoms' but expects to carry out 'light duties' this week

Britain's Queen Elizabeth has tested positive for Covid-19, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The monarch, 95, is experiencing "mild cold-like symptoms" but expects to carry out "light duties" this week.

It comes after it was confirmed she had been in direct contact with her son, Prince Charles, when he had the disease.

The announcement was made just a few weeks after the Britain's longest-reigning monarch reached her historic Platinum Jubilee of 70 years on the throne on 6 February.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "Buckingham Palace confirm that The Queen has today tested positive for Covid.

"Her Majesty is experiencing mild cold-like symptoms but expects to continue light duties at Windsor over the coming week.

"She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all the appropriate guidelines.

The monarch carried out her first major public engagement for more than three months on Saturday 5 February, when she met charity workers at Sandringham House.

The Queen, who is understood to be triple vaccinated, had been on doctors' order to rest since mid October, after cancelling a run of engagements and spending a night in hospital undergoing preliminary tests.

She is believed to have spent time with Charles on Tuesday 8 February.

He tested positive for Covid a few days later but made a quick recovery to full health.

His wife, Camilla, has also tested positive for Covid, with Cla

There are few things on planet earth that won't test positive for the illusive Cooooo-v id. Headlines stating such is what keeps the farce going.

It’s the new trendy trend, for the rich and powerful. Don’t ya know. Their publicity handler suggest that they profess to have the Covid, yet survive,, with little to no symptoms. It’s great publiciTy, and shows their superiority to others. It’s the latest fad/trend.
Soooo, the queen must be the most protected person in England. Especially at her age.
how did she get the Covid?

Prince Charles and Camilla both have it. She might have caught it from them, or from a member of her household. She's at special risk just because of her age; also, she's visibly more frail since her husband of 70+ years died months ago.

I don't think she does anything for publicity or to show her 'superiority.' At Prince Philip's funeral she sat all by herself because of British social distancing rules. Months later, the story leaked that the Prime Minister had offered to alter the covid rules early for her so she could sit with family, but the Queen refused any special treatment. During World War II she refused to evacuate London, and served as an Army mechanic.

I'm not British, but I think she is the real deal.

Uhm she caught Covid from the man waiting for her to die for his turn on the throne. Suspicious wouldn't you say?
I'm with you guys on that!! He's got to be in his mid 70's, so he's also looking at the clock. A decade of King Charles would suit his ego well, and getting there shouldn't be an issue for him. Wasn't there talk that behind the scenes he had a hand in Diana's demise?

The thing is Elizabeth knows (and has always known) that while she is not stupid, she wasn't born a genius either. Knowing that and also knowing her duty to the Nation, she has always been quick to call in experts on various topics, including insisting as a young Queen to be tutored in subjects like Western and World History which had been lacking in her somewhat hap-hazard education (royal girls of her generation were not sent to boarding schools or to Universities the way the boys were).

She made her own decisions, she was not a pawn to her advisors (most of the time) and she did rely on Philip a great deal in certain areas, but I have a lot of respect for her. She may not be my Queen, and she is human with human failings but I think she has done her best to keep her vows and been a "good" Queen.

Her biggest mistakes tended to be where her family was concerned and in both directions - too strict with Charles over his original desire to marry Cammila when they were young and too lax with "Randy Andy" and a few others. But no one is perfect and parenting is hard, it is hard in a grass hut and hard in a palace.

Relax everyone she is double vaxxed and boosted. Studies show she is in no danger like the unvaccinated. Our Wizards of Smart, CNN, ABC, CBS, MSDNC, NBC, FDA, CDC, NIH, NIAID, Jama, Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, are we bored yet, all concur that she is in no danger… :kaid:

This could be anything from she's lost her voice (a common symptom even in mild cases) to she is really very ill and the public won't be told until she recovers or not...

Queen Elizabeth tested positive for Covid-19

Britain's Queen Elizabeth will miss a planned virtual engagement today because she is still experiencing mild cold-like symptoms after testing positive for Covid-19, a spokesman for Buckingham Palace said.

The palace announced that the queen had tested positive on Sunday and would continue with light duties.

Further engagements, such as her weekly conversation with Prime Minister Boris Johnson tomorrow, will be decided upon nearer to the time.

Queen Elizabeth had continued working after she tested positive, issuing a message of condolence to the Brazilian president over flooding in his country while self-isolating at Windsor Castle yesterday.

The Queen celebrated her Platinum Jubilee of 70 years on the throne on 6 February.

She is believed to be triple vaccinated but until recently had been on doctors' orders to rest and only undertake light duties since mid-October.

She cancelled a run of major engagements, and also secretly spent a night in hospital on 20 October 2021 undergoing preliminary tests.

News of the Queen's illness came the day before Mr Johnson announced all pandemic legal curbs in England would end later this week.

On Monday he said compulsory self-isolation for positive cases would stop on Thursday, urging a shift from government intervention to personal responsibility.

The move prompted concern from scientists and accusations from opposition critics that Mr Johnson was more concerned with appeasing members of his own party angered at the curbs than protecting public health.

Queen Elizabeth resumed in-person audiences at her Windsor Castle home west of London last week.

But she complained to one attendee of suffering from stiffness and was photographed holding a walking stick.

Her eldest son Prince Charles, 73, had to pull out of a planned engagement on 10 February after testing positive for coronavirus for a second time.

It was later revealed he had met his mother two days earlier.

My paternal line of ancestors come from the northeastern US states, and many of them descended from immigrants from England, Scotland, Germany, Denmark, etc. I have heinz 57 in my lineage! LOL!! But I am PROUD of all the immigrant ancestors that I come out of, and that includes my English ancestors. They came here for freedom, and they fought against the British to keep that freedom and become part of a new independent country - the United States of America.

Even though they fought against the British, they had family and ancestors there. That used to be their homeland, and I'm sure they still had great love and respect for England.

I hold no bad feelings against England as many of my ancestors came from there and are buried there. I only have deep respect for Queen Elizabeth as she - from all I've seen and read - has been as good of a queen and person as she could have been for decades. I've always seen her as very human; I've never seen her "putting on airs." She's a great lady and has taken very good care of herself and her family, within reason. I'm sure she will do fine with this "cold," and I am adding her to my prayers that she gets over it quickly and without bad illness or, heaven forbid, death. I'd like to see her stay on the throne for many more years. I'd NOT like to see her douche-bag son (or rather, both of them) get control over England. England won't fare as well with Charles as many don't want him on the throne after what he did with Princess Diana.

The Queen called off her virtual meetings today as she continues to suffer covid symptoms. I wonder if she will make it to her grand Jubilee celebration this summer?
