EBOLA BREAKING: Ebola Scare at the Pentagon

Arlington County’s hazmat team is on the scene at the Pentagon due to an Ebola scare.

Medics responded to the Pentagon this morning for a report of a woman on a tour bus who was sick and vomiting. When they learned that she had recently arrived from Africa, the hazmat team was called out of “a complete abundance of caution,” Pentagon Force Protection Agency spokesman Chris Layman told ARLnow.com.

The woman has been transported via ambulance to Virginia Hospital Center. The county’s medical director also responded to the call and is at the hospital with the patient, according to scanner traffic.

Layman said the bus was at the Pentagon for a tour of the Pentagon Memorial. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic has been shut down around it.

Pretty close to home for TPTB...maybe they'll stop mincing around with their economic concerns and get on the ball. They think an Ebola scare is going to hurt the markets...wait until they see how much an Ebola epidemic hurts the markets...

I had no idea how many sick and vomiting people from Africa travel all over the USA. I personally have seen someone vomit in public but it was very late at nite and it was in a bar.

I feel bad, but I cannot stop grinning!

Not for the innocent people, but maybe now they'll stop saying it cannot be caught?

OK, now I want to hear about a story of someone jumping the whitehouse fence and entering the whitehouse, vomiting, fartin, and pooping, and shouting SAVE LIBERIA the whole time. Maybe we'd get results then.

Yeah, isn't that interesting? I commented on another thread about how often you run across folks with fever, diarrhea and vomiting. Hospitals are treating this like it is no big deal when folks show up with those complaints, but I never realized that this was "common". (must be, if hospitals are sending these folks back home)

Maybe it is really common...... Any nurses/doctors out there that can clue me in on how common this is?

Somehow I think they're going to start to take this a little more seriously now. As an adjunct I was watching a satellite feed news conference with the Governor of Maryland being the key speaker. He stated that 'Maryland is ready for Ebola', he also stated that 'ALL paramedics, ems, fire and most police within the State are fully equipped with PPE necessary to handle a reported case!' I looked at the screen in amazement. Have they learned nothing from the hubris expressed with the Texas health care system? I highly doubt that all the first responders in Maryland have full fledged hazmat response suits and respirators in their kit. He was touting his own horn saying that they fully learned the lessons from 911 and are ready. We shall see.

Yes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and fever are very common symptoms that could be a number of things.

However, most people that has this usually just stays home cause most of time it's as simple as a stomach virus.
If it gets worse than they contact their doctor. These are some of the most common complaints when a person calls in sick to work.

Most don't go out on tours, cruises, planes etc.
Makes me wonder if the Ebola virus symptoms come on someone quickly.

Right! When every I am sick I generally stay at home. And I guess my question was really how common is it for people to go walking around with nausea and vomiting ect.....

Ideology. One that does not include the health and welfare of the United States.

It is very difficult to resist the temptation to point and laugh at those who are so clearly being hoist by their own petard, so to speak, but resist we must, because there, but for the grace of God, go we.

Agreed with all of the above...

HOWEVER, has anyone considered those things that we order by phone, or off the internet, that get delivered to our front doors? How long, how persistent is this beast, Ebola? How many different strains of it are there?

What about where products are created, shipped by and through, and those who deliver?

I cancelled my Netflix DVD service, and will only buy Kindle books from now on... Likewise, I'm trying to figure out how to go to the store, Wal-Mart, perhaps late at night, when fewer "normal" customers are around... Mask and gloves- without getting shot by store security?

Weird world we have here, due to our nation leaving God...

The people in D.C. that "matter" probably already have the serum or true medicinal cure for this. I'm sure the thrifty fifty (or so) are well guarded from this somehow. What ignorant fools they are.

Nausea vomiting and diarrhea are about the most common ER admitting complaint , right up there with sore throat and head ache. So common triage would just list N/V/D x ?? days as the complaint.

Local news is saying person was from Sierra Leone.

Also, this report has more details: http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014...ho-was-recently-in-africa-vomits-on-tour-bus/

Best parts:

"The Arlington County Fire Department was called to the scene. The woman has been transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital"

"WNEW Senior Correspondent Mark Segraves reports that the bus the woman was on then traveled to Capitol Hill. The bus has since been stopped on Virginia Avenue and the other passengers and the driver are being isolated on a second bus. Virginia Avenue is closed down while officials investigate."

I sell products online through Etsy and have seen several comments and one article posted there lately saying that Ebola is already keeping people from ordering online. Supposedly it is really hitting online retailers, which is odd to me because I don't see it hurting brick and mortar stores.

Now they have TWO contaminated buses.

I wonder if that's about to change. I've been out all morning topping off so I've been away from the news, and my last stop was Sam's Club. I came upon a guy leaning against a display reading his IPhone, with a small group of people standing around him (maybe half a dozen). I heard one lady ask him 'is it spreading?' and his reply was 'oh yeah, it's spreading' and that sent them scurrying off quickly. They didn't look happy. I wonder if they all weren't reading the Pentagon news. It was crowded at the open, and they were low on hand sanitizers, paper towels, etc. Some people seem to be catching on.

Just made another dash to the store myself for more paper products and perishables.

Maybe 15 customers in the whole store? Mostly employees. And they still didn't have an item that I ordered 3 weeks ago. Out of stock at the warehouse and looks like the whole US now. (denture creme and powder that's made in Ireland.) Something I WILL need if I can't get out to get more. This is the stuff without zinc in it. That's there on the shelf of course..

Ok, back to the story. Looks like we have more walking ebola spreaders released into the wild. When are they going to stop the madness? When?

Wait, Does that mean they believe she is positive for ebola? Why else should they self-monitor for 21 days. Shouldn't they get the marine's info, call them and let them know if the passenger was positive/negative and to monitor them if she was?

I live in DC burbs, my local radio WMAL talked about the Pentagon story.

It reported the woman had just flown in from Sierra Leone.

Also said originally took her to Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington (closest one). But, they refused to allow the ambulance to come there.

So, they sent her to Fairfax Invova, where my local TV channel is showing
photos of her supposedly being treated in a yellow tent outside in the parking lot!!
