CRIME Boston region cowers again, this time after knife attacks on University shuttle bus

This is my summary of the article linked below and some comments.

Salem State, just outside of Boston, is locked down today after police ordered Salem State University students and faculty to shelter in place (at 12:35) after a man, named by the State Police as Timothy Wells, stabbed one woman in the arm and then giving the bus driver a "minor puncture wound to the chest" after coming to the stabbed woman's aid. The woman was treated on scene, and the driver was transported to a hospital but neither are considered life-threatening. This happened at 11:10am in the Central Campus parking lot and the description of the suspects vehicle, which was seen leaving campus, is given in the article. According to friends of friends on Facebook, people in some campus buildings have just been allowed to leave.

This is just insane. I really, really hope that there is a pushback against this unnecessary lockdown and confinement. We shall see if my NG friend who argued strongly for the efforts made after the Marathon but has since seemingly seen some of the problems with it has really seen the light.

I could see a lockdown if there was an active shooter on campus, but locking down students and staff for 2+ hours on the off chance that the stabber has returned to campus is beyond what anyone should consider reasonable.

Shelter in place because of a stabbing incident!?!?!. They are insane. Doesn't anybody in Boston have any balls? I thought it was full of rebellious Irish...where the hell is THEIR indignation?

Somebody needs to slap the shit out of whomever gave that order.

Just out of curiosity what if someone says “eff this” and walks out? What are the limits of holding these people ‘in place’?
