BLM blocks man from getting home, police intervene and detain him

"The police came and grabbed him and pulled him away, which was probably good for his safety," said a protester who streamed the altercation.

When Black Lives Matter (BLM) blocked a Minnesota man from his home, police intervened — arresting the man.

BLM protested Saturday outside the home of a county attorney responsible for bringing charges against former Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter, who recently shot Daunte Wright, apparently by accident. The protest was designed to pressure the attorney into upgrading Potter’s existing second-degree manslaughter charge to a murder charge.

About 100 people turned out, totally obstructing Stillwater Avenue.

After nearly two hours of protesting, the BLM activists began to march down the road towards Fourth Street, where they encountered a driver trying to reach his home.

As the driver attempted to turn onto Stillwater Avenue, he was blocked by three motorcyclists and a yellow-vested protest organizer who told him he would not be allowed to drive to his house.

“I live right there,” the man exclaimed, pointing to his home as the bikers dismounted and approached him.

A minor scuffle ensued as the bikers shoved the man and the man shoved back. Officers quickly intervened, detaining the man, putting him in the back of a squad car and moving his vehicle out of the way so the BLM march could continue.

A BLM-affiliated streamer who broadcast the protest narrated this event, inferring that the protesters would have harmed the man had police not detained him.

“The police came and grabbed him and pulled him away, which was probably good for his safety,” the streamer said.

One of the protest organizers then debriefed the group on what had just happened.

“There was an angry motorist who refused to move his car, the police were on the scene,” she said. “They [the police] took him away, put him in the back of a squad car. They moved his vehicle out of the street so we can peacefully continue our march.”

At some point, police also blocked roads, preventing anybody from accessing or leaving their homes while the protest was allowed to continue.

This is not the first time Stillwater police have allowed protest groups to disrupt traffic in the town. Last summer, armed Black Panthers shut down a main road during a protest that involved several hundred individuals.

I had a great grandfather that came here from Italy. he died when I was seven. he couldn't speak much English. in the evening we'd sit at the edge of the garden or - if it was raining - on the front porch and he'd read to me from his bible. I can remember him telling me that a day would come when wrong would be right and right would be wrong . . . he said that's not going to be the worst of it . . . the WORST will come when there is nobody around that can remember the difference between the two.
I dare say -
WE HAVE ARRIVED

The path of least resistance. I think BLM will not venture outside these Democrat run cities for a long time, if ever. Woe betide the group who does.
There was a case where they did and armed locals came out in force to encourage them them to leave. The suddenly totally peaceful protesters were most polite to local LE who escorted them out of town for their own protection.

See the thread on POLITICALLY SANCTIONED VIOLENCE. Your answer lies there.

I will add to Dennis' comment.

Parades are normally "licensed." One cannot have a protest or a parade without permission of the civil authorities.

Parades/protests are the classic "collision of freedoms." One group has a 1st Amendment Right to let their view be known. Another group has a right to free passage. The two rights can and do conflict.

The usual sorting out of these rights revolves around licensing. One gets a license after proving that one's parade is limited in scope (parades have a start time, a finish time, and a route of passage) and that it is "organized" (one human is in charge and has subordinates who "manage" and control elements of the parade.}

One might even have to buy "Police Monitoring" to be sure for the safety of both participants in the parade, and bystanders. Part of the duty of the police is "directing traffic" lest a vehicle obstruct the parade or the parade obstruct a vehicle. During the period/time of the parade, the parade generally has "right of way" except in the case of an emergency.

In this case the parade/protest seems unmonitored and uncontrolled. I would expect no permit or license has been given by authorities. The police of their own volition have chosen to give the parade right of way, a "color of law" imposition of one's fundamental right of passage.

Were I human and the gentleman in the blocked automobile, I would be in touch with my lawyer and seek redress in a court of law. Since there is probably NO human of record in charge of the parade, any lawsuit would have to be against the local government. While redress might include forgiveness for any local imposed fees or fines, it SHOULD include court imposed direction to the local government to "up their game" in control of parade events. Actual "damages" for the obstructed driver beyond this are difficult to quantify, and I wouldn't try. Redress would be for the safety of the children, of course.

Given the local (obviously) left lean, a court might be ineffectual in this. (I.e. "no standing BS) Were that the case I would be in touch with a realtor about the sale of my house. Relocate to a community which does have RULE OF LAW (spit.)

obviously that difficulty arises when an individual is en route from one location to another in the course of his normal business/daily routine. here's a twist - now assume we have "protestors" RIOTING ASSKLOWNS blocking the bridge a woman in labor or someone with emergent issues MUST CROSS to get to the ER?

how have we not then transitioned from their RIGHT to protest to very possibly your RIGHT to LIVE? this is unadulterated bullshit

Was there not even room in that road for two vehicles to pass? Protestors to one side; guy getting home on the other...

That would involved compromise and not intimidation, which is completely what these polecats were out for.

The day is coming. Much like when the protester in Austin leveled his AK at the Uber Driver/Servicemember who then shot said protester dead.

So, it appears the police sided with the BLM crowd.

What will the police do when things turn, and about 200 heavily armed, highly pissed off citizens start throwing lead from tree tops, behind walls, and other prepared positions ?

Sooner or later, the police are going to have to reevaluate their loyalties !!!

The only re-evaluation that will go on is when individual officers make up their minds to leave their politically compromised forces. There will be some Departments that never "go over" and will remain as public servants.

The others will be unpleasantly surprised to find that they are being held accountable for their acts and actions.

Remember, the "I was only following orders" excuse was found irrelevant at Nuremberg.

I believe this situation happened during protests out West, don't recall the results.

This is just the opening act. It's only going to get worse as the week goes on.

I doubt that the Chauvin jury will deliberate long...unless it's hung. I'm thinking the trial be resolved by Thursday at the latest, then buckle up.
Wonder when whitey's had enough?

Or when they get off shift and return to a burned out house? Remember during Katrina, the local police were among the first to desert and flee.

And cops are our friends?:strs:

I suspect the guy was delighted to be arrested. Yes please, take me into custody. Put cuffs on me. Whatever it takes to get me away from this mob.

Bear in mind, by dragging him away, the protestors don't link him to his residence, so it doesn't end up torched.

Reminds me when I worked for state police as a civilian. Tried to bum a ride on the helicopter to go to another town. The guy told me the only way he could do it is if I was in cuffs. I was delighted to accept, but then he chickened out. I mean, what a great story.

interesting - no doubt our friends in the MSM buried the real story of what was - or much more likely what WAS NOT done - to the multi colored assembly of assklowns busily imposing their will and bullshit on people, who not only had NO CAUSATIVE ROLE to play in their "cause" (spit) - but simply wished to go their own way in peace and tranquility.

I do not recall this - are you absolutely certain they cut and ran?

seems it would take an ABSOLUTE FOOL of a cop to go toe to toe with joe six pack who's FINALLY DETERMINED he's had enough of the bullshit and proceeds - together with large contingent of like minded - to commence restoration of the social contract. PARTICULARLY when the cops K N O W the difference in right v wrong - "orders from on high" be DAMNED
