Well it that time of year again for Black Friday Deals. Lots of ads are already appearing online. How many of you are planning on going shopping?

Lots of Black Friday ads show they will start on Thanksgiving Day. In our area we are already seeing lots of discounted prices in sale papers.

Please share with us any good deals you are finding in stores or online.

A couple of years ago I went to Academy and got a Heritage .22 normally $150 for $99. That is the only thing I have ever ventured out for. No way I want to mix with the normal Black Friday crowd.

And why buy "stuff" when it only benefits China and other Countries. Bake everyone their favorite cookies instead. And ya know, to me atleast Food (cookies) is a better gift than any Chinese junk. Heck, i would be happy receiving Banana Bread even. Just make sure to add Walnuts. :spns:

Lowe's has had 2 D-cell LED Maglites for about $15 the last couple years. I always buy at least one to add to the collection. I keep one in the bedrooms, den, cars, and sent a couple with my daughter when she moved away to college. They have an unbelievable beam on them and the batteries last a long time with the LED bulbs. Hope they've got them again this year.

I usually do. But the places I shop don't get the crazies - craft store, hardware store, Rat Shack...

Last year I got a great rolling metal tool chest at Lowe's, complete with 5-drawer topper, for something like $75. That was totally worth the trip all by itself. :D

I do believe we should only buy what we need and not our wants.

The reason I put up this thread, we were out trying to find someone to fix an old computer. Some of the computer repair shops are located in electronics stores. So after getting there, we started seeing all these TVs piles everywhere.

We ended up at Best Buy, HG Gregg and Office Max. Office Max was not that crazy with stuff everywhere but the other two were.

You would not believe all the TVs we saw! They've were everywhere! The TVs at HGbGreg were unreal! They had a least twice the TVs that Best Buy had. We ask the salesman, are all those TV for Black Friday? He said yes! He said most TV will be sold at cost to draw people in, who usually end up buying something else.

HG Gregg Salesman said their big sales starts on Thursday night.

We usually don't want to get into the mad crowds, just to get a bargain. We do not plan on buying anything, we do not need. But there is a foot & calve massager that my husband needs. They run around $200. We are keeping our eyes open for one that's not so expensive.

I look for the sales online and are there ever a bunch of good ones this year. I heard the stores are going to have some super sales after the disastrous shopping last year.

I definitely need a few things but will only buy if the price is low enough.

My grandsons like some money for gas for their cars. They don't get a lot of bucks but every little bit helps.

But NO...I do not actually go out to the stores for sales. Too much chance of buying stuff on sale that's not needed. And I don't like crowds.

Half the stores are starting Black Friday on Thursday.
Regardless, I will probably not go out shopping on Thanksgiving weekend.

Might buy some things online though.

We have a lot of mundane expenses this year so gift giving will be rather light this Christmas.

Unless I see a Total Drop Dead Deal I am no going to get too excited about shopping this year.

If, and that is a big if, we see a deal, we will order it online.

There is no way I am getting crushed at a Mall during a Hippo Stomp Stampede.

Dis homie don't play dat game . . . :xpmp:

This too shall pass.
I hate crowds and in my whole life I think I've only shopped on Black Friday once or twice. Won't be doing it this year -- living an hour's drive from town removes most of the temptation!

My wife and daughter will go out. I did it once to buy toys for shelter kids. Great feeling but never go Black Friday shopping again.

Wife and I have never went and I will never go. I hate shopping. If I need a coat, I will go to the nearest store and pick out one that fits both my body and my price range and buy it. I don't care what color it is or what style.

I don't like the crowds of people that push and shove. The fights that break out are stupid but can give you a chuckle. I will not drive to the bigger city for it. I go to our small town where we only have a Wal-Mart and Menards. But I Love black Friday shopping. It's not about the stuff for me, its the feeling of buying to give to others on a small budget. People who don't have the needs and wants we might have and not even realize it. I got two comforters ( bed in a bag kind)last year for $15.00. I only started doing it two years ago and kinda had fun now me and the kids go.

Yes. I just moved and there are several big ticket items on my list. But...
- It has to be somethong on the list; something I need.
- It has to be a significant savings; I don't like shopping and won't put up with crowds for little gain.
- It has to be unavailable online; I'd rather shop from home.
This will make me go fight the crowds on Black Friday. Funny thing is, in past years these criteria have never been met...

As a prime member of Amazon. I figure why waste the gas and deal with the cold/rude people. I just order online and have it delivered to my front door FREE!

I think whether we do or don't shop for holiday gifts during "black Friday" or otherwise, we need to be careful about being self-righteous about it. Some people don't shop because they can't. Some people don't shop because they won't. Some people shop because they can.

Personally I've been doing the black Friday thing since I was a young newly wed. It is how we could afford to do gift giving and then when the children came along it was even more budget conscious for us. A little work for a lot of return as it were. Hubby and I made it a tradition until last year when he just no longer felt the pull to get up early in the morning. Last year my oldest daughter and I did it (she is now married) and it was fun. However, we both had a list, plan, and budget and stuck to it.

I also shop on black Friday because it allows hubby and I to continue our charitable giving to various programs ... we'll secretly help one or two of our most in need tenants and/or a family member of a tenant, we help kids at the local shelters, we give stuff for the raffles that support local charities, toys for tots, kids at the local children's hospitals, local ALFs, homebound members of our church, Loft 181 which is a support program for foster girls in our county run by our church, etc.

Without that weekend of special sales it is doubtful that we could do what we try and do each year. We'd still do some but not to the extent that we've come to consider our service and calling to do.

We each have our reasons and frankly so long as we aren't endangering our family through irresponsible spending then no one has the right to tell you what to do one way or the other. To me that is too much like the government telling us what we can and can't do, wealth redistribution plans, etc. If I make the choice to redistribute my wealth that is one thing, I don't want anyone else telling me whether I can and to whom it must go.

I also try and spread a little Christmas cheer while I'm out ... must be different in the South because most of us are just out having a good time to begin with ... and I'll leave a tract telling the real Christmas story in various places.

Our family tries to keep our focus on Christ and not worldly Babylon so we don't participate in the craziness. My favorite holiday is actually Thanksgiving. Family, friends, food and so much to be thankful for year after year we thank Him and Praise His Mighty Name! Amen

I do my Black Friday shopping online. I got some good deals last year. Online is the only way I shop anymore, saves on gas, stress and impulse buying.

I've never gone "out" for the sales-but I might make an exception this year. Harbor freight has some awesome parking lot deals and luckily there's more men there than women, so they are generally polite and don't trample me!

I DO watch the online sales for things I might "need"...With coupons, deals of the hour and some other "stacks" at Kohl's last year I got a vacuum that had been $175.00 for $3.99 with free delivery. I also found an online wine seller featuring small vineyards, and I had a lovely case of wine delivered (really nice stuff too) for under a dollar a bottle.
THOSE are the kinds of deals I look for (from the comfort of my jammies).:eleph:

I have one 9 year old child to buy something for...everything else is generally made or I'll give a gas card to the teens.

Won't go. Not a fan of crowds, especially crowds exhibiting "chimp out" behavior. Too much chance of getting myself into trouble.

Does anyone remember 4 or 5 years ago, someone posted a link where you could buy "seal-a-meals" for $25.00? It was a one day only special. I bought 2 of them, wished I had bought more. Maybe we should all posts exceptional deals we come across just during the holidays.

No. "Must go shopping for awesome deals!" falls clearly under the header of "consume, obey, consume!" Which is why I won't be doing that, be it black friday or cyber monday.

I do believe we should only buy what we need and not our wants.

Today i bought more Tobacco. I "needed" Tobacco. But i do see your point. Needs are more important than wants.

I voted that I won't be shopping Black Friday deals; however, I may very well be shopping. We have a tradition of attending the Homestead Heritage Fair. Often I will find some food or specialty item that I can't easily locate anywhere else. Some of these make great gifts for certain family members and friends.

i voted no as that is our usual practice (even though we don't have the mad shopping rush here), but thinking about it i MIGHT check out the local C.A.L. ranch store and see if they have any deals on guns.
