"At this time the Great Hills Trail scene is still active. We are still asking residents to shelter in place and report suspicious activity. While a suspect is still at large it appears this is a domestic situation that is isolated and there is no risk to the general public," the APD tweeted again at 1:27pm on Sunday:

So far, three adults have been pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. No other information is available at this time, but there exists a possibility of other casualties due to this incident. The three victims have since been identified as a Black man and two Hispanic women.
Since this is an ongoing investigation, anybody with any information or anybody in the area who sees anything suspicious is advised to immediately contact the APD.

Bad jokes are demerits, but not elements of the crime.
It was not meant to be a joke, it was meant to be everything is a mass shooting now, in Chicago this was a daily occurrence, did anybody step up and call this a mass shooting. They don't even bring it up, now that they are trying jam new gun laws down are throat, everything makes the news (except the usual gun deaths in Chicago which is a gun free zone 121 Killings this year alone). Don't hear anybody from Antifa or BLM jumping up and down in Chicago demanding Justice, do you!!!

Just to clear up some location details - the Arboretum is a couple of miles W of the Domain where the Apple store is. Neither is "near downtown" - guess it's too much work for journalists to look on Google maps anymore.

What's key is that the Arboretum lends to an escape S on 360, through tons of ravines that run NW for miles and miles through the neighborhoods (including mine). Ex cop probably left a car somewhere he could stroll to through the woods. At least the Domain would've had him largely pinned in by concrete.

Likely was in Mexico hours after it happened.

I give up.
No, they still haven't caught him.

The victims previously attended high school in Elgin, according to the district.

AUSTIN, Texas — Three people were killed in an "active attack" in northwest Austin Sunday morning, officials confirmed.

Austin Police Department Interim Chief Joe Chacon said a 911 call came in at approximately 11:42 a.m. on April 18 for a "shoot/stab hotshot." The first officer was on scene at 11:46 a.m.

When officers arrived, Chacon said they located three people who were injured. Austin-Travis County EMS said the individuals had suffered gunshot wounds and medics performed CPR, but all three died shortly after.

Chacon said the victims were two adult women and one adult man.

Two of the victims were identified Monday morning by Elgin ISD as Alyssa Broderick and Willie Simmons.

"We are heartbroken by the news of this senseless tragedy, and we extend our deepest condolences to the families of Willie Simmons III and Alyssa Broderick," the district said. "Although Alyssa withdrew from Elgin ISD back in the fall, she was an Elgin ISD student from 2009 to October 2020. She was an excellent student and athlete, enrolled in our Early College High School program and played on our girls’ basketball team. Willie was a senior at Elgin High School. He was an exceptional young man and leader among his peers. Strong, both academically and athletically, he represented the very best of Elgin ISD. He was the Captain of our football team; a friend to everyone he met; and most recently, recruited to play football for the University of North Texas. The Elgin ISD community grieves the loss of these two young, promising souls. In response to this tragedy, the district will have counselors and trained professionals available via in person and/or virtually to assist students, staff and families in this time of grief."

Elgin High School Athletic Director Jens Anderson posted a message on Twitter Sunday night asking for prayers from the community.

"Prayers needed for our Elgin community. So many are hurting and trying to find understanding right now. #9," Anderson said.

Simmons was recently recruited to play football at the University of North Texas. He also received offers from the Air Force, New Mexico, Lamar and Missouri State.

The third victim has not yet been identified.
