Asthma Relief

Does anyone have a natural remedy for dealing with asthma? I had a bout of asthma last month and the doctor prescribed two different types of inhalers for me to use. I've had asthma off and on over the past few years, but never had it this severe. I wasn't happy about having to use the second type of inhaler, because it contained steroids. The first type was the regular albuterol; I used a nebulizer this time as well with the albuterol.

I've seen a product in a natural news magazine called 'moringa oleifera,' a tree common to the earth's equatorial regions. The article said scientific tests said using the by product of this tree (leaves, pod, flowering parts and oil from the seeds) helped with breathing...

Anyone know of any remedies to reduce the inflamation in my bronchial tubes?

I have asthma and at different times have had to use inhalers. I treat it by (a) staying away from known triggers - all kinds of artificial perfumes including cleaners, mold, and sometimes dust aggravates it. Also gooey "kapha" type foods aggravate it, like a lot of yogurt (I can eat a very little bit occasionally), ice cream, sour cream, etc.

I also take a lung formula I make myself, and use essential oils that help open the bronchials and promote breathing. I can write up my recipe for that if you're interested, off the top of my head it has a lot of Eucalyptus, with lesser amounts of Fir, Spruce, Camphor, Peppermint and a few others. I now rarely use an inhaler, but I do have to watch where I go. I use all non-toxic non-fragranced cleaners, detergents, personal care products, etc. Actually I make a lot of my own stuff, wash my hair with Kirks Castile soap, etc.

I'd really be interested in your lung formula. I have various bottles of Young Living Essential Oils and probably could put the formula together.

Mold is what really got me this time. And, as crazy as it sounds, the toner/developer from photocopying machines will set off my asthma. Where I work from time to time, has a copying machine back in a corner (big no-no); when I'd stand back there photocopying for too long, it would set off my asthma. I later found out photocopying machines do emit toner/developer and there are NO filters on any of the machines. The last time I put two and two together, I had ended up in the emergency room 24 hours after photcopying documents at the office for several hours. 'All photocopying machines should be in a well vented room'...that is what the instructions say....but most companies will put them where ever they have room....

Looking forward to your formula....thanks!!

Many asthmatics are sensitive to many commonly used but toxic chemicals. When Hub uses his printer, I have to leave the house. I can't be around bleach or many household chemicals. Right now he's doing some remodeling and the smell of formaldehyde from the plywood is KILLING me. I can hardly breathe. One thing that is good for people with asthma to do is clear out of the house any things with artificial fragrance (meaning practically all regular cleaners, shampoos, etc). Maybe you've done that but I've known people with asthma and related autoimmune problems feel much better after they did that.

I'll write up the formula in a bit. Must attend to morning stuff first.

We've been looking around since Primatene mist is going away at the end of this year. So far Ephedra sinica aka Mormon Tea has helped. Also Fire Cider (look around on here for recipe) has also helped some.

I'd be interested in your formula as well Be Well.

Here's my current recipe, amend to suit, this is for a one ounce bottle. I use it a lot and have clients who use it so often I make a 2 ounce bottle.

One Ounce of Lung Assist EO mix

Start by filling up half the one ounce bottle with Eucalyptus (Globulus, I never use Chinese oils except when there is no alternative)

then add - measurements are eyedropper fulls, if it's hard to get a whole dropper full, stick it in twice and get two halves!

1 Spruce
2 Fir
2 Pine
1 Camphor
1 Peppermint
1 Himalayan Cedar (ONLY Himalayan, Atlas or Virginia is awful)
1 Wintergreen (Birch would do as they are so similar)
25 drops White Thyme
15 to 30 drops Basil

Optional -
1 Tea Tree

top of with Eucalyptus if desired; shake and smell and add more of any that you like.

I put drops on my clothes, pillow, mix with water and spray in the air, put in a little doohikie I wear around my neck when I go out where there may be bad things, carry in my purse always.

It also works very well in inhalations - a bowl of hot water and drops of EO - when sick. Or for fomentations when sick or having hard time breathing - put washcloths in the bowl of hot water with EOs, wring out, and place on chest and/or back.

Or you can mix a little carrier oil with some drops of the EO mix and rub well into the chest and/or back.

I just bumped it because although I've been a member here for a few years I still havent' gotten the hang of setting up things so I know when people respond to the thread etc....

Of course some EOs could be left out or others put it etc.
