I haven't owned one (I had a Ferguson TEA-20 which is about the same hp, etc). However, everyone I've known who has had an 8N or 9N has been happy.

You just have to recognize that you can't pull a 6 bottom plow, if you get my drift.

We have been farming our 40 acres with one for 12 years. Three bottom plow, pull an old McCormack hay baler. We just putz along and it does just fine. For a homesteader who is not in a big hurry, it is a great little tractor. You can still buy the repair manuals and parts at a Ford dealer also. Step by step instructions on how to fix most everything on it.

One of the best for a small homesteader or small farmer. VERY basic machines, like Gardia said- everything is still available for them. They aren't cheap, at least around here. Most everyone who wants one ends up paying $2k-3k for one, usually well restored and repainted.

too small for us now, but I wish we still had the 8n, rather than the Ford 3000 (our smallest tractor) we do have. It was a lot more reliable.

I have an 8N with a small bucket loader on the front and a detachable back blade. I absolutely love it. Use it all the time and it is very dependable.
