Quiet Man
Nothing unreal exists
Throw another log on the fire Jr.
Our home is in the high desert in New Mexico. Winter lows, here, are often down to -14F (not quite -17, but still pretty chilli). It also gets very windy here, too, so I've definitely made heat a priority. The house is passive solar design; has two wood stoves, with a stock of dry wood; furnace is natural gas, but we have a filled propane tank and a conversion kit and tools to get it to run on LPG. There are a couple barrels of kerosene and several kerosene heaters/lamps/stoves. We also have plenty of solar/photovoltaics to run the household and the well.
Not sure how much more I could practically do, though I'm watching to see if the Grand Solar Minimum thing will materialize. If it does... all bets are probably off.
