Mona Vie--another multilevel marketing scam. They swear by it at your work because they want you to buy it. I have a guy here at the Fire Dept that is doing the same thing. Whatever...I grow very tired of MLM companies hoisting this overpriced crap on people and selling pipe dreams of easy money. I'm just a tad bitter...

Alternatives to Mon A Vie

There are numerous sources for Acai juice, the supposed power ingredient in Mon
A Vie, and most are cheaper. The MLM hype has overblown the potential of the product.
Acai and other antioxidant juices that are contained in Mon A Vie are very good supplements to ones diet. If you are interested in more information on Mon A Vie go to google and type in "Mon A Vie Scam" and then read some of the info. To find more reputable info on Acai check out http://www.sambazon.com They are possibly the best source for Acai products.

As a Holistic health practioner I can say that there is a benefit to these products and some people do experience benefits from their use. A serious side effect of Mon A Vie can be a severe pain in your wallet.

Abstract

Prenatal closure of the ductus arteriosus (DA) is associated with maternal ingestion of cyclooxygenase inhibitors during pregnancy. We report a case of prenatal DA closure after maternal ingestion of MonaVie, a juice blend containing the cyclooxygenase and nitric oxide synthase inhibitors anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins. A G(2)P(0)Ab(1) woman had an uncomplicated first and second trimester and normal 20-week fetal ultrasound. At 37 weeks, she developed polyhydramnios; a fetal echocardiogram showed right atrial and ventricular (RV) enlargement with RV dysfunction. Immediately after birth, there was pulmonary hypertension by echocardiogram with DA closure, severe RV hypertrophy and dysfunction, and marked right-to-left atrial shunting. Improvement occurred over 3 weeks with the neonate tolerating room air and a follow-up echocardiogram showing minimal atrial shunting and improved RV function. This report shows an association between MonaVie ingestion throughout pregnancy and prenatal DA closure resulting in cardiac dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension at birth.
