It does seem things are not fair sometimes

Pets do not live nearly long enough.

My 18 yo cat went missing. It is an indoor cat and overnight disappeared.
I have looked everywhere and can not find it

It did not like going outside so I can not imagine it sneaking out.

But I can not find it anywhere in the house. KT was used to sleeping on a pilllw between DS an myself and the rest of the time snuggled up to our other cat, Prada.

A few months back we lost our Great Pyr mix, Zoe.

KT was older and getting sick. http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showthread.php?554657-Cat-has-beginning-kidney-failure

Then my dog Noel had to have surgery. http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/show...k-dog-in-for-surgery-this-morning-(added-Pics)

She is doing pretty well

I can not believe I can not find my cat

I have known in my experience of older, elderly pets to take off when they know their time is coming to cross the rainbow bridge .. not saying this is your case, and I pray you find your furbaby ...but keep us updated dstraito :)

There have been a number of times I couldn't find our grey tabby after an hour of searching. Normally he came running like a dog when he was called.

Three times he was sleeping in a clothes drawer and the drawer got closed with him still inside. Nobody could hear him meowing until you were right next to the drawer.

The best one was when he was sleeping in the drying machine and the door got closed. Thank goodness nobody turned on the dryer as the cycle was already done. We never made that mistake again.

may all be well
I hope you find your cat right away. I lost my 13 year old blind cat 2 years ago and DH found her 5 days later, injured and dehydrated but she lived for another 10 months. I still miss her.

I am paranoid about one of the kittens getting into something, to the point of I will load the appliance, pull the clothes out, ruffle them and put them back in, then locate all six cats before I will start it.

Just out of curiosity; are there any cat sized holes under appliances or such that the cat could climb into that you're not even aware of?

A number of years ago, Dolly, the cat in my avatar, would vanish in our apartment. Then pop! She'd reappear! Finally, one day, I came into the kitchen just as Miss Dolly was reemerging from a hole under the base of the dishwasher! I couldn't believe it!

It might be worth it to crawl all around looking for such an inviting hide place.

Years ago, our apartment was robbed. The cat was traumatized and we couldn't find her and assumed she had run away. Three days later we found that she had crawled up into the underside of the recliner. She was fine.

I was in a motel rm in western Canada and awoke to a missing cat

apparently there was a hole in the wall that went into the neighbouring rm

the hole was under a counter

only visible at cat level

When I couldn't find my kitten, I retraced all my steps I took while working in the house that day, and there he was in the freezer. He was fine and not upset at all, he liked to check everything out and explore.

Years ago, we were putting up corn silage, with a friend and neighbor working with us. I'd make a big pasta salad or other dinner dishes early in the morning. At lunch time, I'd jump off the tractor and dash to the house to heat and serve dinner.

This day I'd made a nice rolled roast of beef, planning on having hot roast beef sandwiches. I opened the fridge... and out waddled our half-grown black kitten. And he "waddled" because he'd eaten the best part of the 3# roast! Talk about embarassing!

But yes, they can get into the darndest spots.

I'd probably open a few cans of tuna and place them around the house to try to lure the cat out, or if he's sonehow stuck somewhere, get him frustrated enough so he'll call out.

Praying for you... remember, cats really do have 9 lives...

Check under the beds. I've known cats that tear a hole in the bottom cover of a box spring, and crawl up into that space.

My routine is to start on the 2nd floor and look in every corner/closet and under every bed. I also check inside the sinks and the tub. I then repeat this in every room in the house. I then expand to the garage and walk around the exterior of the house calling him. So far, I've managed to find him every time. There were a few times I found him on chairs under tables covered by the table cloth, behind couches, and under the covers of an unmade bed. A few times I've found him in the laundry room under a step stool, or between the dryer and the wall. Don't forget to look in the laundry tub. More than once I opened a linen closet for towels and closed the door, only to find him inside the closet after a number of hours. I've even found him hiding behind open doors, or on shelving units over my head, or behind dishes stacked on top of the refrigerator.. I think he thinks we're playing hide & seek...lol!

dstraito, did your cat show up? Cats can find the weirdest places to hide. 18 years old is old for a cat. I hope your cat shows up. We are owned by the feral cat we've had for 3 years now. Keep us informed, and I hope it's a happy ending for you.

having run this cat rescue .... many times I have to have a visual count and I know the panic when one that is a foodie or a love bug is not showing up.. try NOT to think the worst, but be prepared....many times we'd mysteriously find them later in the day, but a few times we'd find ones not even sick in a hidden corner, deceased.. heart problems... so I am praying too!

Prayers added. Check your cabinets also. We have one that believes that’s his home some days. Then there is the tv stand. They regularly get in there though it seems impossible. I second the bed thing. You may have to lift mattress to be sure. I have a fat cat who squeezes so far under and blends with everything. Even a flashlight isn’t enough to see him unless he moves. Good luck!!

Adding our prayers, too! Hopefully you will find her first thing in the morning safe and sound.

The end times are here.
I'm praying for you and your cat.
A tabby female of ours disappeared. She had gotten locked in a neighbor's garage for 14 hours.
I was having a very hard time when she was missing. I know the feeling.

My neutered favorite gray and white cat - "Puddy Tat" is hiding under the couch these last few days. There's little space under there and i can just barely see him using a flash light. I thought he was lost. I called and called and he wouldn't come. He's been under there two days. I mean he comes out to eat and then goes right back under there. Ever since he got neutered his personality changed to where he's more afraid of the other cat so he hides now and then. He ignores me when i call him at times. Usually he will jump on me when i am on the couch laying down. He can't be hot cuz i have the AC on.

Good heavens. I thought I had joined your club tonight when I came home. My older cat was missing because someone didn’t follow the “get your animals in before fireworks” rule. If he is hiding when it’s time to come in he’s usually on the steps waiting when I get in. No joy. First one if I rattle treats. No joy. Had he been in the house he would have wanted out to sit with me. No. I rattled treats for a bit and he finally came up scared out of his mind. He has NEVER been out w fireworks going off. Tomorrow my resting Italian Bitch Face is going to educate. I’m too angry to do it now. My dog isn’t even out with me on her leash right now because I’m afraid she will pull out of my hand. I am beyond pissed off.

I don’t know what more advice to give you except keep looking. ALSO if you are on Facebook or know someone who is there is a site called “ Track My Paws”. You can post your information there. I have seen lots of great results from that. The only rule is to post your location and the county you’re in. You can post pictures there also. I think she’s still in the house. Where is the question. I’d start moving all the furniture if you haven’t. Was searching for a cat one day in the rain. Before work and school. Finally found the turkey under a bed where it was nice and quiet. Think there was some thunder going on. If addicted to treats or catnip put that out too. Ugh!! I’m so sorry today wasn’t fruitful.
