If they replace all cola, milk and fruit juice etc plastic bottles with glass think about the massive increase in transportation cost/weight.

I hate bottled water taste. Our current condition of local water supply is nasty due to algae growth or something like that from low rain and summer heat. So they dump lots of nasty tasting chemicals in it.

So we have resorted to bottled water but not the small single serve bottles. We buy the gallon jugs and there are still some of them that have a fowl taste but if you sample different ones there are some that do not have a bad taste.

Distilled have an odd taste to me. We only like the jugs that say "Spring Water" on them.

Purified is nasty to me. I do have very sensitive taste buds.

We like to buy spring water that comes in glass bottles for the minerals and carbonation.

We also store our home filtered water in glass containers.

I hate the fact that our milk is in plastic jugs, but we do try to keep the milk in glass, so it doesn't leach even more.

Not ONLY "bottled water", but EVERYTHING comes in plastic these days!! Just walk down any isle in a grocery store and the vast majority of containers or either plastic or plasticized containers. Even most canned goods are LINED WITH PLASTIC of some sort. we are fully inundated with plastic at every turn. It's everywhere you look! The interior of your car is FULL OF PLASTICS.

True, but how much is YOUR HEALTH WORTH?!? Not to mention that of your children....remember that not everything is cost effective, nor should it be. How about QUALITY OF LIFE.

Our ancestors were onto something using glass for everything drinking...

Not to mention the radioactive glaze on some dishes. :)
I read somewhere that "Fiestaware" made before about 1970 had a fairly noteworthy radiologic emission.

They need to find a new type of plastic that doesn't shed particles easily, don't know if this is possible, or some new type of material.

Cheap and even not so cheap spirits/alcohol are in plastic too. Even red solo cups.

What's less healthy?

I've wondered if aluminum isn't just as bad.

I drink water from a hole in the ground in my backyard , I know , I know it sounds crazy
I have a friend that has a drilled well. The rock structures were layed just right for him. IOW, good h2O, (in my best Billy Bouche' voice). Ref. to Waterboy with Adam Sandler.

Anyway, a company was getting ready to drill a gas well on adjoining property. The gas developer came by all neighborly like and asked if he had municipal water.

My friend was congenial to them and told them he had a well. He gladly offered them a sample (which they took) and made perfectly clear he expected his water to stay EXACTLY as it was currently.

Long story short, he felt they knew his water would degrade. Whether or not it was a factor, they drilled somewhere else...

Just stop buying bottled water. Period. Just stop. You'll do more to save the planet, the fish in the ocean and your body in one year than these government programs they wish to push us into.
